Not for me! 11/10/2005

We recently bought a very old house and wanted the chimney looked at. I have heard nothing but wonderful things about this company so they were the first ones that I called. I was first disappointed with having to wait several days to even get my call returned. I was also disappointed that he stated he wanted $80 just to come by the house to look at the chimney, when everyone I had spoken to said they never paid a fee. He insisted that his time was valuable and asks this fee of everyone. A few days alter I called a few other companies that were more than willing to come out and give me a Free estimate of the repair work needed. I am giving this company 3 stars - because as I said I know of several people that are more than pleased with the service that they received, however I was not one of them. I decided to go with a different company. more

    FAQ
    Question:
How often should my chimney be cleaned?
    Answer:
All chimneys should be inspected once a year and cleaned or services if needed. Most people think if they don't use their fireplace or stoves, the chimney doesn't require servicing. This is not true. Animals building nests in the flue or leaves and sticks falling into the flue from surrounding trees if the flue is not properly capped and screened can obstruct chimney flues. Clay flue liners can also deteriorate from long term exposure to water (rain). Damage from condensation in oil and gas flues can allow dangerous flue gasses to escape into the home. These are just a couple examples why you should have your chimney inspected annually by a qualified chimney professional.
