Editorial review from Citysearch 4/11/2013

I found this Motel just over 20 years ago and fell in love. I just celebrated my 100th night in the same room. The staff are beyond polite and courteous. My room has always been clean and never has any trace of foul odors. The View from the rooms are amazing and easy access to the beach is a nice plus too. I have pretty high expectations when I travel and these people always deliver greatness! more

What is wrong with these people on here that are leaving such horrible comments? We have been to this place numerous times, at least once a year for the last 9 years. We will continue to go back as it is the only place that does not frown on 2 adults and 4 children, ages 10 and younger, being in the same room. (The Sea Gypsey, just down the road from the Sea Gull, expected us to put our 5 yr old daughter and 10 yr old son in an adjoining room, alone. I think not!)\r \r We have never arrived to find a dirty room. If you are that nit picky, stay home. If you find a little mold along the window sill, that is to be expected. You are at the beach, which means there will be moisture in the room. You turn the heat on in the evening and Voila! you get a present over time. If you don't want to look at what you might find, take some disposable cleaning wipes with you and wipe it all down. \r \r There are ample towels in the room. Yes they are motel towels..... so what. Bring your own if you expect thick and cushy. By the way, they do not provide shampoo or conditioner, either. Not a big deal for us as we always bring our own, anyways.\r \r The room that we get has 2 queen beds in the main area, a dining table and chairs, microwave, small refridge, TV with DVD/CD/Cable, small coffee pot, a seperate room with a full bed, closet and dresser. Our children love it because they can open the windows and climb onto the walkway to look at the surf. It has an absolutely breathtaking view.\r \r Beach access is a little tricky because the road/stairs that you travel to get to the beach are at a steep incline. However, we walk slower because of the kiddos so it's not that big of a deal to us. \r \r Someone complained of sand or dirt on the floors..... Hello?!?!?! When you stay at the beach, you are going to encounter dirt and sand. Don't want to look at the mess? Bring an old shower curtain with you. Take your shoes off at the door, put them on the shower curtain and walk in barefoot. \r \r We have never been bothered by ""neighbors"", even being by the ice/pop/snack machines, we have never heard anything outside of our own space. \r \r Bottom line is........ We get a motel room for one reason...... to sleep in and freshen up the next morning. If you want the Hilton, stay at the Hilton. I have stayed in one and hated it. I would prefer to support a smaller business that is happy to see us return. And guess what? We will continue to visit this place as long as they have our room available! I just got off the phone with the motel and we are planning on going tonight! Going to have a wonderful weekend! more

We were referred here by a friend but After seeing a couple bad reviews on here I had my doubts. My wife had to point out how most the bad reviews seemed to originate from the same group of people. Well trusting our friend, we booked a couple of nights with them. \r Needless to say, I'm glad did! We had a room on the 2nd floor and the view was awesome. We couldnt have been any closer to the beach. The beach access ramp next to the Seagull was the only one in town with vehicle access. \r \r The rooms were fairly clean, nothing fancy but they had a nice ""homey"" feel to them. A little sand here and there but anyone whos ever been to the beach knows that stuff gets everywhere. The towels were just basic motel towels again nothing fancy but they were clean and worked for us. The TV had a built in DVD player and we had access to all the cable channels like Showtime. Honestly tho we were too busy with the beach and exploring the town to watch TV. \r Very pet friendly as long as your pet is well behaved theres no issues. \r The motel is family owned and they all seemed like nice people. Anything we asked for they were happy to help. They even directed us to some great restuarants (Mo's and Otis Cafe are wonderful!). \r Overall its a very competatively priced motel literally right on the beach. I will stay there again and highly recommend it. more

We enjoy our trips to the Seagull very much. So much that we visit the Seagull during any season. The main thing is we get to take our girl (dog) with us. The pet fee is very reasonable. The rooms are quite adequate for our needs...we always get one with a kitchen. The large windows that face the ocean make for a terrific view. (There is no room at the Seagull without an ocean view). We couldn't ask for a better staff...they're all very friendly and very accommodating. The Seagull may not be a new motel but it sure is a great place for us and our pet to stay! more

We stayed at the Seagull motel some years ago before the ADA and they did everything to make it work and it did. This time we called to see if any rooms were available. We intended to stay only two days but it was better than we remembered. This was our twelved motel on this trip.We had a great view of the ocean, complete kitchen etc at a great price. We stayed four days and everybody who worked there was great. Everybody enjoyed our service dog and he enjoyed the beach. We found it a great place to stay more

I have been to others along the coast & Lincoln City. Some fancier, newer. But when I found this motel I fell in love and kept coming every year, late spring & early fall. My friend & I came together. The minute you open the door, the ocean greets you in all it's glory. When you awake you can see& hear it from your pillow.Yes it's an older motel,a bit vintage, but I always found it homey, with plenty of space, even in the bath. the kitchen was all I ever needed, and could STILL see the ocean from there. My room was always clean & staff always coming with fresh towels (4 day stay) We had a fave 3rd floor room always..quite a climb for us as we are older. The wonderful staff always helped us with our luggage (plenty) both coming & going while they joked & laughed with us the whole time.We had many great scrabble games at that window while enjoying watching both the ocean and the goings on below on the beach, the whales, the boats. It was fun to watch the people, stuck cars, bonfires and never once did we have loud parties, etc. disturb our sleep. My health failed some, and I have not been able to go there for a few years, but as soon as possible I want to go back again, and some of my favorite memories are there. Thank you Seagull and the kind, cheerfull, helpful people who run my favorite place on the Oregon coast! more
