A bunch of my friends were invited to have dinner here last week as part of the "review" process for their grand opening. I'm a sushi fanatic so I guess that's why I got the invite. I was pretty hesitant, since I'd never really had a great experience at Hannah's, but I'm really glad I went.
There were about 10 of us, and the waiter was totally up-front, saying they were still in a "soft opening" and the grand opening wasn't until end of April. Our server was terrific, and the food --- each and every dish -- was super yummy. I'm a tough cookie when it comes to Asian/Pacific Rim food since I lived in Asia for about 18 months, and I have to say I'm pleasantly surprised!
The owners came over twice to say hello and were extremely nice, asked everyone's feedback, and welcomed us. A few people I was with gave feedback on a few of the rolls, but everyone was raving when we left. I loved the Rainbow roll (really cool, wrapped in soy paper and riceless with a yummy mango sauce!), the BLT roll, and the chicken and beef skewers were awesome. The waiter had recommended the raspberry sake, and not being a sake fan, I now have to change my opinion on that, too. Loved it!
I think it's unfortunate that other diners have had a bad experience, especially since mine was so positive. I think it's wise to note that they're still in a soft opening and working out the kinks with a new menu and a new waitstaff. I went back this past Saturday for dinner and was treated extremely well and immediately recognized by the manager. Our waiter even asked us to try a few desserts they were considering adding to the menu (one which we loved, one we didn't). I just think it's cool they wanted our opinion, and that they recognized me. That's more than I get from restaurants I dine in on a regular basis!
Overall the food is really unique, and I have to agree with the other reviewer that the cucumber martini is incredible!
Pros: Unique menu, yummy drinks, friendly owners
Cons: still working out kinks in menu, but it's getting there!
