Ambiguous Culture, Confused Food 3/19/2009

I had the pleasure of coming here twice, once for a birthday party and the other on a stop over by the airport, and both times were not spectacular. I did enjoy the teriyaki dish the first time I was there, but the waitress I had basically spoiled the whole meal. It wasn't like they were happy I was there, it was the other way around. all in all a bad dining experience. Pros: Teriyaki Sauce Cons: Everything ok, nothing Great more

Very nice improvement from Hannahs, Great food and service 5/16/2008

Since it is a rather new restaurant and I like the patio a few friends and I went to check it out and we were all pleasantly surprised. The sushi was miles beyond what Hannahs ever was and the service was very friendly and helpful. It very well could turn into my local bar/restaurant. I recommend it. Pros: Great food and reasonable drinks Cons: Only been there once and didn't find any more

Surprisingly intriguing entrees 3/24/2008

I have eaten at Sea Stone twice now and I have decided to make it my new local favorite. Both times I tried different foods; salads (seaweed), soup (incredible authentic Miso), appetizers (beef skewers now my favorite), sushi rolls (Sea Stone specialty), sake (Raspberry). Everything, and I mean EVERYTHING was delicious. I was surprised the second time I ate there that the choices were even yummier then the first time. I can't wait till my third visit. more

Definitely Up to Snuff - Delicious! 3/16/2008

A bunch of my friends were invited to have dinner here last week as part of the "review" process for their grand opening. I'm a sushi fanatic so I guess that's why I got the invite. I was pretty hesitant, since I'd never really had a great experience at Hannah's, but I'm really glad I went. There were about 10 of us, and the waiter was totally up-front, saying they were still in a "soft opening" and the grand opening wasn't until end of April. Our server was terrific, and the food --- each and every dish -- was super yummy. I'm a tough cookie when it comes to Asian/Pacific Rim food since I lived in Asia for about 18 months, and I have to say I'm pleasantly surprised! The owners came over twice to say hello and were extremely nice, asked everyone's feedback, and welcomed us. A few people I was with gave feedback on a few of the rolls, but everyone was raving when we left. I loved the Rainbow roll (really cool, wrapped in soy paper and riceless with a yummy mango sauce!), the BLT roll, and the chicken and beef skewers were awesome. The waiter had recommended the raspberry sake, and not being a sake fan, I now have to change my opinion on that, too. Loved it! I think it's unfortunate that other diners have had a bad experience, especially since mine was so positive. I think it's wise to note that they're still in a soft opening and working out the kinks with a new menu and a new waitstaff. I went back this past Saturday for dinner and was treated extremely well and immediately recognized by the manager. Our waiter even asked us to try a few desserts they were considering adding to the menu (one which we loved, one we didn't). I just think it's cool they wanted our opinion, and that they recognized me. That's more than I get from restaurants I dine in on a regular basis! Overall the food is really unique, and I have to agree with the other reviewer that the cucumber martini is incredible! Pros: Unique menu, yummy drinks, friendly owners Cons: still working out kinks in menu, but it's getting there! more

Well worth it! 3/16/2008

We tried Sea Stone after some hesitation. The previous restaurant, Hannah's always had spotty, slow service and rude management. Reading some other reviews, we didn't know what to expect. Dining at Sea Stone's was a completely different experience. What a pleasant surprise! We had a drink at the bar and our bartender, Reed, was friendly and attentive. We had a Cucumber Martini that was wonderfully refreshing. We ate in the beautiful dining room and Nancy was knowledgeable and friendly. We tried the dim sum, teriyaki chicken, and some sushi rolls. Everything was delicious and beautifully presented. Menu has a great selection of all different types of Asian food...Chinese, Korean, Japanese. Interior is still beautiful. They did tell us the menu is changing and they are having a grand opening at the end of April. Looking forward to our next visit. Pros: Beautiful interior, easy parking, great food more

Great Sushi!! Great Service! 3/16/2008

I was invited to dinner last week to Sea Stone and I have to tell you I was pleasantly surprised! We started off with the cucumber martini and I have to say is was dandy! The sushi rolls were to die for, very different combinations and the service and presentation were excellent. In fact, I am going back again this Friday and meeting a few friends. If you are looking for great food and great cocktails check out Sea Stone, I am sure you will enjoy it Pros: sushi bar was great more

Fantastic In Every Way!!! 3/12/2008

Wow! I just returned from an incredible lunch at Sea Stone. The hostess, the manager, the chefs, our waitress, and the other wait staff were all very friendly and accomodating. Ninas was our waitress, and she gave us some great recommendations. The Porcupine Shrimp is an absolutely delicious appetizer. In addition, I would definitely recommend the Laguna Surf House Specialty Roll. It is served with a little side of caviar that makes for a great accompaniment. The 9th Island House Specialty Roll is also very tasty -- the interesting combination of ingredients creates a great flavor. Da BLT is the perfect roll for the non-sushi eater. The presentation is beautiful, and it looks like sushi, but it is fish free and honestly tastes like you are biting into the perfect BLT. In addition to all of their sushi, they have many cooked Asian entrees. We had a few special requests (yes, we often like to create our own dishes) that they also honored. The atmoshpere is brilliant. I can't wait to return -- it looks like the perfect place for happy hour! Pros: Ambience, Service, Food Cons: none more

Nice Place 3/10/2008

I dined at Sea Stone last week for dinner. I have to say...they have excellent sushi rolls. I sat at the sushi bar and the chefs were VERY friendly. The rolls were made fresh and were very tasty. I will be coming back soon to try some of their entrees for dinner because looking at the menu there are many items that sound good to me. Pros: Fresh sushi, Pretty Interior more

A New Twist on "Lost" 3/10/2008

Um....yeah. Was I eating out, or lost in a desolate, unfriendly Japanese town? As the ONLY customers, I would have expected a more welcoming demeanor. Our server did the very minumun, and the food was okay. I was warned about this place, but I didn't listen. Don't waste your time or money; go to "In and Out." Pros: Beautiful place Cons: "Who do you think you are?" attitude. Unfriendly more

Fresh & Friendly 3/8/2008

Everything from the food to the drinks to the attentive service we recieved from the staff was absolutley amazing. The design of the restaurant along with the pictures and waterfall gave a feel of being in another country forgetting that you came from the busy streets of Vegas. The "potato crusted salmon" ,"laguna surf roll" and "tears of venus" were incredible as well as the bottle of wine the server had recommended to us called Rombaur. After eating every last crumb we made our way to the bar for some after dinner cocktails and were extremley impressed with the bartenders knowledge of the wine list who also made a "cucumber martini" which I'd never even heard of but enjoyed down to the last sip. I'd recommend Sea Stone to anyone willing to try something new and unique and who enjoy a comfortable relaxing type of atmosphere. I personally will be coming back very soon. Pros: Very curtious and knowledgable staff Cons: Parking could be a litle more convienient but valet is offered. more

  • IN SHORT
Sea Stone lives up to its name. The restaurant offers a wide range of sushi rolls as it fuses Korean, Chinese, Japanese, and Hawaiian fare in an inviting atmosphere. They even serve some rather unique offerings including non-sushi rolls such as the BLT and a riceless Sea Stone Rainbow Roll. The wine list is impressive and includes a 99 Score by Robert Parker (only one barrel of the wine was ever made), and the sake selections are equally wide ranging.
