don't go with this shop! terrible 2/23/2011

Don't go diving with this shop- terrible staff, poor customer service. The captain and the owner of this place are rude and entitled. They conducted their dive trip as though the customers are unwelcomed guests, and spoke to customers as if they are unruly children. There was no attempt to be flexible and accommodate the customers. I will never go with them again or recommend them to anybody. In my 8 years of diving I have never seen any operation like theirs. examples: I have hip problems. I made the owner, whom was my dive guide, aware I'd be slower swimming- nothing drastic, just need to stop and look at stuff every 5, 10 minutes instead of straight swimming. His reply: ""then you better remember where the boat is. I can't cater to you. Better yet, you should just go with the other group"" Several customers were chatting at the end of the trip, and the captain began to talk about how we can go online and write a review. She interrupted the divers, told them to be quiet: ""maybe YOU think you've heard this before, but you haven't, and I can't concentrate with people buzzing around"", and goes on to rattle about the 2 dollar discount they could get at the store. when finished, she says; ""ok, you may talk now."" When I took off my wetsuit between dives, I was asked ""why""- I had to explain i like to dry off during surface intervals. The captain's reply: ""well usually we let people take wetsuits off down to their waists- but if you want to try and get back into a cold clammy wetsuit, then suit yourself and by all means!"" She then proceeded to hand the wetsuit to me as I was still eating during the break to put it back on Fellow diver was about to get a breakfast portion. Captain decides she wants to take photos of the divers and tells him to pose. He says he'd like to get a bagel first, her reply: ""well ok then, suit yourself"" Don't give them any business. It's ridiculous anyone had to pay and put up with this. more

Best on Maui 6/22/2008

I have gone on four separate dive trips with SCUBA Shack over the past 3 years including a night dive. They are great, I have always had a fantastic trip. I plan on going again the next time I am in Maui. I have never had a bad experience, the crew is always helpful and provides a lot of details about their past dives. I love Toby's story about the Whale Shark, so many great stories. I suggest going out and creating your own stories with SCUBA Shack. On my last dive we dove in a pod of about 15+ dolphins, on my night dive we saw a green lion fish. If you haven't done a night dive do it, different world at night. Thank you SCUBA Shack for always making my trips complete. more

bad service and bad equipment 2/16/2008

I and my wife had a good time in Molokini. That's a wonderful place for scuba diving. more

Great day trip 3/13/2007

As the other review said, Scuba Shack caters mostly to snorkelers and new divers. But if that fits you, then this is the place to go. more

Scuba Shack is not diver friendly 2/24/2006

These guys are mostly a snorkle outfit and don't cater to experienced divers at all, try Lahaina Divers for better diving more
