Losing 116 pounds... 8/25/2010

...it’s not easy to make the leap into a healthy lifestyle: fruits, veggies, whole grains, and of course exercise. My partner and I joined Scott Fitness in December of 2009 and since then we have learned a lot about fitness. Scott Fitness is ""anti-gym"" gym: it not only has a variety of classes to choose from that are included in your inexpensive membership, but also has the most friendly, inspiring, and motivational staff I have ever seen at ANY gym. \r \r Project Poolside as instructed by Jonetta is a great place to start learning some great fitness moves and gets that butt (literally) in shape. She is thorough in her direction and clear in her delivery. You feel like you can do it, and push yourself, and keep on trying so that by the 5th or 6th or 15th class you can say ""Wow! I didn't know I had a muscle there"".\r \r Additionally, Zumba as instructed by Jeanee it s great way to dance off all your stress, have some fun, and not feel alone in the wide world of those who have no rhythm. Jeanee incorporates not only the normal Latin. African, and other cultural dances familiarized by Zumba; she also incorporates R&B and hip hop to keep it current and interesting. \r \r I LOVE LOVE LOVE Scott Fitness. And I think that if it wasn't for this gym and its staff helping to keep me motivate and interested in bettering myself; losing 116 pounds would have been a lot more difficult.\r more

Great Gym, Unique Atmosphere 8/12/2010

I've been a member of Scott Fitness for almost six years and love it. If you want a shiny new gym with a full-sized pool, it may not be the gym for you. But if you are looking for something with great atmosphere, all the equipment you could possibly need to get a good workout, reasonably priced, knowledgeable trainers and a broad range of free classes, sign up. There are no surprise renewal fees and my membership cost hasn't increased in the time I've been a member. Scott Fitness is a unique, positive addition to every neighborhood it moves into. I look forward to seeing what they'll do next. Classes: I've been going to Project Poolside for over two years, immediately dropped 20 pounds and my tush and arms look as good as they did in my 20s. I've learned good form and a solid repertoire of compound exercises so that I can get a good workout on my own - even when I can't make it to class. (Thank you, thank you, thank you!) more

You can do better. 8/8/2010

For $40 a month, I was not expecting much but I still managed to be disappointed. The juvenile, amature website should have been a deterrent but I managed to overlook it. However, every time I show up something is broken, the bathroom is disgusting and one stall has been out of order since i joined (over six months ago) and the music played on the speakers is at best, embarassing, And don't even think about complaining about broken equipment unless you want to have the employees roll their eyes or, more likely, have the owner cuss at you. I have also shown up for classes that were listed on the website only to find that the class had been discontinued quite some time ago. Project poolside is unquestionably the worst-instructed class I have ever been to in my entire life. \r \r No, I would not recommend this gym more

Scott's is the best gym ever! 11/25/2009

I don't think there is a gym like Scott's in any other city. It is a very comfortable place to work out. Not only that, but all their classes are included in the membership. Their memberships are not contracts so you are not roped in. Great prices, too. Thanks John! Pros: Free Classes, four locations, great vibe Cons: NONE! more

WORST GYM EVER 7/5/2007

Not only was I harassed by some of the staff, the owner John Scott himself proved to be the most offensive person (if you can call him that) I have encountered in a long time. After being a member of several gyms in the past ten years I have never experienced the type and rude harassing behavior I was subject to at Scott Fitness. I was willing to overlook the fact thats the equipment is sadly out of date, the cardio area has no lighting to speak of and is incredibly dangerous, and they do not even provide lockers ( much less cubbies to put you gear in) but after being chased down and yelled at in front of the whole gym by the owner because a fellow member walked in with me when their scanner malfunctioned (i knew she was a member and they had no staff at the reception desk) was beyond anything i have ever experienced in any of the gyms i have visited or been a member of. I strongly caution anyone from visiting much less joining ( especially if you are female - intimidating women seems to be the owners forte).\r Cons: owner - rude and harrassing more
