My husband and I decided to throw our son's first 1st holy communion at Sciortino's restuarant. We've never ate their prior... so we're unable to speak of any previous personal experience. We basically just wanted to throw a party for our son and needed a place that catered with a dance floor. We gave them a head count per table of how many place settings were to be prepared. On the actual day of the party, 2 grown ups and 3 kids between ages of 5 thru 10 showed up unexpectingly. I apologized and explained to the waitress, who was also the owners wife, that if she could please add 5 more place setting and chairs for my guests. She was very upset and threw the utensil on the table in front of my guests while they were sitting at the table. Whatever happened to saying, ""No problem, we will take care of it"". A few moments later the owner came over to us and began yelling in front of my guests threatening that his waitresses were going to walk out on him if additional guests were going to show up. Our function at this restuarant was from 3pm til 7pm. This incident happened around 3 - 3:30pm. After this issue was taken care of, our guests began questioning the situation. This was very embarrassing for us because we didn't want them to feel unwanted. Next at 5:30pm the same waitress asked me if it was a good time to cut the cake. I told her i wanted to cut my sons cake. I told her I had to go get my husband and son so we could take photos. When I walked back, my husband noticed that the cake had already been cut and served to our guests. We were unable to get any photos of our son with his cake. We never even took a photo of the cake. My husband became very upset and went to the owner who was located on different floor and let him know what had happened and that he was extremely upset. We still had a whole 1 hour and half til the end of the party. We paid a DJ to work til 7pm. Our party was cut short. The contract was til 7pm. At 6:30pm our bartender who was serving the beer, wine and soda mentioned that he was called upstair to begin his next shift. A few of our guests expressed to the waitresses that the coffee was cold as if it were sitting out for a while. The waitress refused to bring out hot coffee. She stated that it was hot when she walked it out. (Not a very professional waitress/owners wife). Another guest of mine went straight to the kitchen and requested hot water for tea because the waitress would not bring out hot coffee. I was also upset that when we first arrived we noticed a musty smell in the room as if an humidifier was needed so I immediately opened the doors to air out the room so that my guess wouldn't notice. Another matter that upset me was the bathroom. Both stalls had no locks on them so they swung open. The sink had a hot water and cold water the hot water worked only. When turning it on the water would shoot into the sink and all over me. I believe the pressure was to high. I had numerous complaint from my guest and ourselves but felt that we were forced to continue with the day because we had close to 60 guests who expected a party. The owner and her wife really ruined this day for us. This is a once in a lifetime function for us and we were extremely embarrassed and unhappy by the way the owner and hise wife reacted and treated us. Also we didn't get the full service we paid for. Let's just say that at 3:30 I wanted to go home and crawl under a rock. We wanted to end the party but couldn't. I NEVER EVER WANT TO FEEL THIS WAY AGAIN! So my suggestion, as this is only half of what went on with our party, choose wisely when picking a catering hall. P.S. I am far from a drama queen and am just stating facts.
