This is a good restaurant. The portions are so big. Even the 1/2 portions are big. I am a big eater but I find it difficult to finish 1/2 order of food. Especially the Chicken Fried Steak dinner. The best meal in the house. The atmosphere is great and the staff are very friendly. Good for all members of the family. more

My husband and I found out about Schroeder's Guest House Restaurant back in 1999 and we have been hooked ever since. They have the largest portions in all of Salem for the best price. If I remember correctly they have a HUGE Chicken Fried Steak dinner that comes with the CFS, choice of potatoe, vegetable, soup, salad and bread roll for only $8.95. And this is a full 1/2 plate sized Chicken Fried Steak. Schroeder's is known to it's loyal customers by it's HUGE plates of food and very reasonable prices. The wait staff always remembers who you are and always ask how you are and what you have been up. I like to joke with the employee's about how I think the owner must live at the restaurant because he is always there working with the rest of the staff. This is a great place. I recommend you try it. more
