I would not recommend going to this Dr. if you value communication and Dr. who values all life. I found him through a referral when I found out I was pregnant with our first. I went in for my first exam to do all of the prenatal testing and consultation. In our initial consultation he discussed the testing they do for Down Syndrome - when I asked why I would want that done - he said because 'most people choose to terminate the pregnancy.' I was so thrown off by this response and then he continued with a story of a patient who chose to keep the baby even after the test came back positive and she now has a child with extreme special needs that he claimed - 'is really a lot to handle.' HUH?!! terminate the baby because they may have special needs and you are a licensed DR?! I was sooo disgusted. Then to top it all off - after I asked to not have the cystic fibrosis test done in my prenatal screening due to personal preference and cost - I found out later when my bill came that they in fact DID give me that test and now I am out of pocket over $500 because they did not do what I asked. And now they are claiming I never asked to not have it and they refuse to help reduce the absurd charges. Needlesstosay, after that initial appointment I never returned to this Dr and have since found an AMAZING midwife who has given me the upmost in care and I could not even imagine continuing my care with this DR or anyone else. My advice, no matter what your religious preferences are - any DR who encourages you to terminate a child because there may be a 'chance' a CHANCE that they may be born with special needs is just WRONG. Even if that is your decision it is YOUR DECISION and he should remain unbiased. Do not go to Dr. Schmones. more

Dr. Schmones is the best OB/GYN I've ever been to. He just delivered my daughter in May and it was an excellent experience from my first appointment to my six week check up! His office staff is awesome. I just can't say enough about him. What a difference between this pregnancy and my last. I'd have four more kids if I could have Dr. Schmones deliver them all! more

I used to be Dr. Schmones nurse for 3 years started off as a receptionist. And I couldnt have worked for the best Dr., Friend, and boss. Working side by side with him he deos spend quality time with his patients, answers questions thoroughly. His staff is very caring, helpful, and prompt with any requests. The office is locally located across the street from St. josephs, laboratory in the same building and nearby other medical buildings. more

The pros are that the staff is super (even if they all do look like sisters...he clearly has a type). Dr. Schmones is really warm and nice and takes time to answer every question. You are never rushed. I can't say enough about his nurse-shes great. The cons are he does too many procedures. Whether its tests or Ultrasounds or referrals for more tests...other doctors just don't do that. I'm pretty sure he does an ultrasound with every appointment for every client. At least he did with me and the 2 other people I talked to. I'm no doctor but I'm pretty sure the consensus is that you are not supposed to expose a fetus to US more than are medically necessary. He also preformed a total episiotomy having never discussed it with me. It took me months to heal. I can't imagine anything more barbaric. Lastly he botched my sons circumcision (he will need surgery to repair the damage) and had the nerve to charge me for his mutilation. Ick. more

First of all, whoever wrote the ""Vet"" comment should probably see one instead of a regular Dr and must be a real NUT to say what they did. Dr. Scmones and his staff are by far the BEST practice in Burbank. I never expeced a Dr.'s staff to be so friendly and interested in the care of a patient. He and his staff are very attentive and my husband and I NEVER had any trouble at his office. I never felt rushed and anytime we had questions and he always took the time to explain things and never make us feel like we were wasting his time. He delivered our son May of 2010 and my husband and I could not have asked for a better dr. Come baby number 3 or more he is and will be our number one choice! :) more

Dr. Schmones is the obgyn for all the women in my family. He is wonderfully dedicated to his patients, devotes all the time you need to you, and he really cares. He helped me through a very difficult time when I had to have a hysterectomy, and was sensitive and supportive throughout. He delivered my niece, and my sister-in-law joked that she wanted to have another baby just to have that great experience with Dr. Schmones again. The office staff is personable and experienced, and the office is clean and pleasant. Pros: Caring, goes the extra mile for you, excellent medical care, very knowledgeable Cons: Can't think of one more
