I cannot recommend Dr. Gina Schell at Saint Anthony's Hospital in Saint Petersburg, Florida. The best thing I can say about her is that she is thorough once you get in. However, getting in to see her was a problem for me. When I had a lung infection with a fever, I was told there was a three-week wait (I ended up getting antibiotics from a Walgreen's Take Care Clinic); when I injured my foot, I was told by her receptionist to not even bother trying to make an appointment. I'd always had doctors who set aside emergency appointments and even administered their own flu shots, so this inability to see a doctor when I needed to was new to me. But, in the end, I didn't have to worry about dealing with Dr. Gina Schell's overly-packed schedule for too long. When I came in for my annual physical (wisely made a year in advance), the staff mistook me for a different patient who'd evidently called and yelled at a receptionist when she couldn't get an appointment (no surprise there), and Dr. Gina Schell had her office manager kick me out and bar me from ever returning! I was shocked! I didn't even call on the day in question. And I had the proof on my cell phone! But the rude office manager never let me defend myself and Dr. Gina Schell hid in her office, refusing to address this issue with me personally (seriously, a simple conversation would have cleared up all their confusion!). Instead, they simply accused me of the misdeed they felt this other patient did, humiliated me in front of the entire office, then called security guards to escort me out. It was an extremely frustrating and humiliating experience. As the final kicker, days later, Dr. Gina Schell sent me a certified letter saying SHE didn't trust or respect ME and was dropping me as a patient immediately. Unbelievable! Based on my experiences with Dr. Gina Schell and her staff, I absolutely cannot give her a positive recommendation. But, I am happy to report that my new doctor does set aside emergency appointments and has no problem fitting patients in within a day or two of their call.
