Fantastic, fresh food 8/23/2010

Just a great little place to grab a bite to eat in downtown Decatur. You'll get enough for 2 meals (or one large one) for about $10. The food is unbelievably fresh and in season, and it's prepared right before you. You won't believe how flavorful the sandwiches are; they are a work of art that you'll just have to try. If you'd like to grab something for dinner, there is fresh meat and produce, and fantastic little sweets for dessert. I highly recommend that you give them a try, and say hello to Lynn, the owner, while you're there. She'll be behind the counter. more

Great Place to Eat. 10/26/2007

Good and fresh. The food is great and the service is even better. The hot sandwiches are fantastic and the freshly made salads are fantastic. Try the green bean salad it?s the best. The hot Cuban has a taste you can?t get out of your mind. You just want another one after you eat it. Stop by and try it out for lunch one day. This great new place is highly recommended. Pros: fresh always. Cons: none more

Old Fashioned, but Gourmet, Butcher & Seafood Market! Kobe Beef Hot Dogs! 10/9/2007

A couple of weeks ago, after leaving our new favorite coffee bar, Dancing Goats, we stumbled across Sawicki's Meat, Seafood & More. And more it was. It reminded me of my childhood, but is very now. It's small, tight, and filled with refrigerated cases of goodies. Everything from Kobe Beef Hot Dogs, @ $9.00ea., to King Crab Legs, the size of my arms. The cases had deli meats, prepared salads, and other tasty items. There were only maybe six seats, in the whole place, as most people were doing take-a-way. We ordered a couple of sandwiches to split. A Portabella "steak" panini with gorgonzola butter, roasted red pepper vinaigrette, served on herb foccacia. And a delightful Cuban with freshly roasted pork loin, ham and swiss with mojo/pickles. Pure heaven. And many gourmet items, on the well stocked shelves. And yes we did buy six of those Kobe Beef Hotdogs, for a very special cookout! Pros: Fancy Butcher Shop & Seafood Market! Cons: Wished I Could Shop Here Everyday! more
