I wonder what's the point of writing yet another 5-star review. Well, I will do it anyway. I had such a blast on both tours I took.
Gourmet Food Tour: Nick was friendly, funny, and engaging. This was his first time leading this particular tour, and I couldn't even tell. He did a great job. He remembered everyone's name and had a lot of interesting stories to tell. He really delivered.
We met at Mayflower Park Hotel and went to:
Andaluca for a crispy duck cake with raita and apricot chutney
Serious Pie for the potato pizza and mushroom pizza
La Buona Tavola for tasting truffle oil, salt, balsamic vinegar, and other sauces and pesto. The selection was a little dizzying!
Il Bistro for a seafood risotto and sangiovese
The Market Theater Gum Wall!
Pike Place Brewing for 2 beer tastings with bread and cheese
Thoa's for a light version of Pad Thai with fish sauce
Gelatiamo for 2 types of gelato
A few days later, I joined the Pike Place Tour, and Aubree was very fun to be with. She did a good job of soliciting opinions from all of us and making it feel natural, rather than being grilled.
We met at the Starbucks near the Pike Place entrance
Daily Dozen for baby doughnuts
Market Spice for some delicious hot tea (I don't generally get too excited about tea, but this was good.)
The fish guys! We enjoyed some smoked salmon and salmon jerky. Tasty. And watched them throw some fish back and forth.
Frank's Quality Produce for dreamy Holiday Grapes and blueberries. Also, as we walked by the produce vendors, several of them offered samples of Honeycrisp apples, peaches, and other fruit.
Pike Place Chowder for a chowder and a bisque, which was creamy and luscious
Chukar Cherries for some exceptional cherry goodness (about 5 types of cherry deliciousness)
Beecher Cheese for the Flagship Cheddar on cracker and the Famous Favorite Mac&Cheese, which I found delicious, but not able to live up to the hype which proceeded it. It WAS good, but not as good as my favorite recipe which I found on my own.
Piroshky, Piroshky... for a savory cheddar and a sweet apple cinnamon piroshky
Etta's for a crab cake, which was scrumptious and way too small! It was a perfect finish to the tour.
I really enjoyed all of the food on the tour and also enjoyed seeing the attractions, like Rachel the Pig and the Gum Wall. I suggest bringing a bottle of water and a camera and wearing comfy shoes. It's a fair bit of walking and there are some hills.
I would suggest either tour to anyone who loves food and wants to see a bit of Seattle.
