I sometimes do cheat (when it comes to baking) just a little during the holidays when I am very busy. We have several get-togethers in my home during the Christmas/New Years holidays. Sometimes, I confess, I just have to give up on some of the holiday home made treats/snacks and go out and purchase some of the items that I would normally bake. When this happens, I go to my local Albertson's Grocery Store. I have to admit that I don't shop there very often for groceries but their bakery items are fresh and delicious. They are made fresh right there in the store and the cakes are decorated their too. They have excellent prices on their cakes, too. I can practically buy my cakes here cheaper than I can make them at home from scratch. Oh, and did I mention that they are delicious. more

I once asked Becky, the Bakery Manager, for a cake made like a monkey and she looked at me like I must be crazy. But, she made the cake. It was a monkey!!! Albertosn's grocery market on South MacArthur Drive in Alexandria, La.is where I go to get the snacks for festive football fever fans!! Everyone in this family loves albertson's "Crab Log". It is a dip/spread eaten with crackers or chips (some of the family likes it so much they put it on bread like a sandwich). The Crab Log is made at Albertson's and can be found in the fresh meat/seafood counter. This is a must have for refreshment time (half time) at our house. Albertson's Grocery has a lot of sales during football season. You can stock up on all of your football snack favorites here. more

I find that Albertson's grocery store has some good buys from time to time. I really don't care for their 10 for $10 sales that they have. I can buy these same products elsewhere cheaper everyday. They tend to catch some people off guard with this type of sale. You are thinking, Wow thats a great deal. Then you begin to think about it. At 10 for $10 that makes the item a dollar a piece. Some of the things they run in this sale are not normally a dollar. So you really are not saving anything. Just give me a per item price and let me figure out how many I want to buy. You also have to be very careful watching the scanning in this store. They will inevitably charge the regular price and not the sale price. Many times I have found that the shelf price is one amount, but when the item is scanned it comes up a higher price. If you question the price, they have to send someone to check it out and it takes forever. I get ticked when this happens to me. I do not like being charged more than the marked price on anything. Be sure to watch the scanner/register monitor to ensure that the price is what it should be. more
