We went to Sasha's tonight for an early dinner, and while our experience was not overwhelmingly bad, I doubt we'll ever go back. Actually, after dinner there, we had to go somewhere else to complete the meal, because the portions they served were not sufficient. We actually left and ran to Schnuck's and bought bowls of soup immediately afterwords.
My boyfriend ordered the lamb chops. For 12.95 there, he got 4 lamb chops, each chop was about two bites of food. Two very small dolmades, and 2 half spears of asparagus. This was all served on this ridiculous tiny triangle plate. Maybe if they had served it on a real plate they could have fit more then 2 half spears of asparagus on it. This was all served over a bland unseasoned bed of field greens that I'm sure was meant for garnish, however, if you order this, you will probably eat them out of desperation.
I ordered the Smoked Salmon and Trout crepe. They were out of Salmon, so I approved them to make me a Smoked Trout only crepe. It was very good. I also paid 12.95 for this. All I got was the crepe. I concede it was very good, and unlike anything I had ever had before, but some sides would have been nice, especially at that price. Also, it was a very strongly flavored dish, and some sides would have given me some variety to mellow out the strength of its flavor.
The wait staff was satisfactory, but not exceptional, several times I felt that they gave preference to customers who were obviously familiar with them then to us, but we were never left waiting too long. We dined at around 5pm on a Monday, so it was mostly empty.
Additionally, I completely sympathize with the neighbors who complain about parking. I used to have an apartment across the street from a bar, so I know first hand how terrible it is, to come home from a hard days work, with a car full of groceries in the rain, and find out that the nearest parking is almost a block away.
All said, at the end, we both felt that we could have gone to any of the other delicious restaurants on south grand, and received a meal that was equal too or better then, for superior value, and actually been satisfied with our portions.
Pros: Unique food presented well
Cons: There's hardly any food at all.
