Cool place, slow service 1/9/2011

We went to the one on Shaw. Love the atmosphere, the fire pit outside and fireplace inside are a nice touch. The music was very loud and it is hard to talk to each other. The food was good and reasonably priced. The service is terribly slow. The server was nice (Adam) but it took a long time to get drinks and order. Probably because he was one of the bartenders and also the server. Go here when you aren't on a time schedule so you don't get upset when it takes awhile. We will go back, there are many more crepes I want to try! more

Nix the 80's music 12/28/2010

Great ambience including a wood burning fireplace. Excellent wine and cheese. Pleasant staff, even if they are quite impressed with themselves. But why oh why play the worst '80's music you can imagine? We're missing the joke. more

Sasha's - Won't go there again! 9/17/2010

Went to Sasha's a few weeks ago. I'm leery of ""tip-jacking"" (when you pay by credit card and the staff changes a digit on the ""tip"" line to a bigger number), so I did what I always do when I pay by credit card: I followed the ""tip with cash"" rule. more

Love this place! 7/2/2010

We go here 2-3 times a week! Sometimes on dates, sometimes with a group of friends...either way, the atmosphere is perfect and we always have great time. Yeah, service is slow, but we're always settled in to hang out for a couple of hours so it's never bothered me at all. The pizzas are delicious, the smoked salmon and trout are to die for, and OMG try the Crepe Amy if its the last thing you do. Try splitting a bottle of wine (or two!)- one glass is never enough, especially since they have such a great selection! Pros: great menu, relaxed/romantic atmosphere Cons: slow service more

Good food, not enough of it. 5/25/2009

We went to Sasha's tonight for an early dinner, and while our experience was not overwhelmingly bad, I doubt we'll ever go back. Actually, after dinner there, we had to go somewhere else to complete the meal, because the portions they served were not sufficient. We actually left and ran to Schnuck's and bought bowls of soup immediately afterwords. My boyfriend ordered the lamb chops. For 12.95 there, he got 4 lamb chops, each chop was about two bites of food. Two very small dolmades, and 2 half spears of asparagus. This was all served on this ridiculous tiny triangle plate. Maybe if they had served it on a real plate they could have fit more then 2 half spears of asparagus on it. This was all served over a bland unseasoned bed of field greens that I'm sure was meant for garnish, however, if you order this, you will probably eat them out of desperation. I ordered the Smoked Salmon and Trout crepe. They were out of Salmon, so I approved them to make me a Smoked Trout only crepe. It was very good. I also paid 12.95 for this. All I got was the crepe. I concede it was very good, and unlike anything I had ever had before, but some sides would have been nice, especially at that price. Also, it was a very strongly flavored dish, and some sides would have given me some variety to mellow out the strength of its flavor. The wait staff was satisfactory, but not exceptional, several times I felt that they gave preference to customers who were obviously familiar with them then to us, but we were never left waiting too long. We dined at around 5pm on a Monday, so it was mostly empty. Additionally, I completely sympathize with the neighbors who complain about parking. I used to have an apartment across the street from a bar, so I know first hand how terrible it is, to come home from a hard days work, with a car full of groceries in the rain, and find out that the nearest parking is almost a block away. All said, at the end, we both felt that we could have gone to any of the other delicious restaurants on south grand, and received a meal that was equal too or better then, for superior value, and actually been satisfied with our portions. Pros: Unique food presented well Cons: There's hardly any food at all. more

Awesome place. 2/13/2009

I am so surprised by some of the reviews that I've read. I go to Sasha's frequently and I always have a good time. The wine selection is excellent and there are many tasty menu options such as the smoked salmon--love those capers and onions! and the traditional Greek salad. I've had every pizza on the menu and they are all delicious. And Jesus! The cheeses! The food presentation is dazzling. Pros: Atmosphere. Food/Wine. Fun bartenders. Cons: A bit overpriced. more

Good food - bad odor 1/29/2009

We really enjoyed the food - the smoked trout salad, Greek salad, and olives - were all excellent. And the decor was very good also. However, the smell in the establishment was one of the worst we ever experienced. It seemed to be a bad combination of smoke, burnt crepes, and believe it or not, CAT. We had to go home and wash our clothes and take showers. By the way, what is a cat doing in a restaurant? We would like to go back, but not until the city of St. Louis wakes up to the rest of the country and bans smoking and animals in restaurants!!! Pros: Food & decor Cons: Environment more

The Worst Service Experience! 1/19/2009

Sasha's Wine Bar has good wine and food, however, I have never been so insulted like I was this past Saturday night. I arrived at the bar to a dining room that was full, we waited a few minutes for a few seats to open up, which happened to be at the bar. We were greeted by Kevin, a bartender, and he asked if we were eating. We declined and said just drinks and that we needed a minute. A few minutes later a table opened and we sat right next to the bar. The table still had dirty glasses and the guest check still on the table. We put the dishes at the end of the table to be removed by one of the service personell. I gave Kevin about another 8 min. before I went up and told him to tell whoever had that table we would like to order a few drinks. He stated everyone shares the tables, so I restated that we would like to order drinks. After 5 more minutes a group of 6 girls walked in and sat down at a table. Kevin, after making his rounds at his other tables, went directly over to take a drink order from the women. He must of sensed us glaring at him because he immediately came over to take our drink order. He took our order and went back to the table of 6 women. After another 5 min. without any drinks, he proceeded to bring a bottle of wine over to the women opened it and poured a glass for each of them. 5 more minutes after that we stopped him and angrily asked him where our drinks were. He went and got three glasses of red wine, one was suppose to be a white, and told me that they were out of the beer that I had ordered. We were in disbelief, because instead of appollogizing he began to make excuses that another girl was suppose to bring us our drinks. We recapped the sequence of events with him and he began to make more excuses. He told us that he thought we already had drinks looking to the pile at the end of the table and the guest check still there. He then proceeded to take an attitude that we we were in the wrong. We got right up and walked out, enraged. Pros: Good wine and food Cons: Worst Service Ever more

Rude, Disrespectful service 1/18/2009

We walked in with another couple who frequents this place on Saturday night, 1/16. All tables were occupied, so we took a spot at the bar and reviewed the wine list. We noticed that a party got up and left a table, so we moved to the recently vacated table. We moved the dirty dishes and the bill from the previous party to the edge of the table for easy cleanup and patiently waited for someone to tend to us. Pros: Nice, cozy decor Cons: Rude, indifferent and inattentive staff more

Think about it 1/14/2009

I want those who come to eat at Shasha's on Shaw to realize that when they do not park in front of Shasha's, THEY ARE PARKING WHERE PEOPLE THAT ACTUALLY LIVE ON THE STREET NEED TO PARK. I think it is very rude when I come home at night from work and there are many cars in front of my home, and many others, that do not even live here and that are in Shasha's. It has become insane trying to find a parking place WHERE I LIVE. It has become so bad that the people that actually live on the street have to park two to three blocks away -sometimes more- from their home. Grocery shopping has become a burden as well due to this, imagine yourself having to deal with this before you come and park in front of our homes. Some of you are also correct, they are very rude. The owner has been consulted about this, and seems not to care, which is no suprise seeing as they have their own fenced-in parking in the back and no one is taking up their spaces. I guess it pays to be very rude and rich. Its funny really, most coming to this part of the neighborhood with a mercedes and BMW's. Each good turn deserves another. Pros: I see none. Cons: taking up my parking!! more

warm and fuzzy! 11/29/2008

Just visited the new Sasha's wine bar on Shaw ave. I feel in love with the atmosphere! Awesome wine list, food menu, and beautiful patio with fire. Finally a sophisticated place to go in Tower Grove. A must visit just to see their beautiful decor. more

Great wine list cosmopolitan atmosphere 3/24/2008

This is one of my favorite spots in St. Louis. Great atmosphere, especially if it's warm enough to sit outside and along Carondolet park. Wine and Beer list is fantastic. Yes, it is a little pricier than average drinks, but it's worth it for the selectiong and service. Also, plenty of unique food choices that are easy to share. Great for a date, or a small group Pros: Selection, location, atmosphere, Cons: Can be crowded, drinks a little bit expensive more

Exceptionally good wine list, great setting. 10/28/2007

We went here after a movie at the Hi-Pointe. We sat outside: very comfortable under the heat lamps. The place specializes in an excellent selection of wine, so we ordered by the glass -- not cheap, but we did try some excellent wines. We shared a cheese and sausage plate, which was very good, though next time I'll take the waitress's suggestion and pick my own combination of cheeses and sausages (it doesn't say on the menu that you can do this, but evidently you can!). The chopped salad was a generous portion and nicely made, and the cheese crepe was excellent. The service was attentive, and the owner or manager was chatting with customers and checked on us, too. Overall, we enjoyed the setting, I loved the wine, and the food was very good. Seems like a solid place with a warm, neighborhood feeling. more

I have never been treated so disrespectfully at a 5/8/2007

The bartender attempted to take more money from me than I owed. When I asked him about it, he developped a fierce and defensive attitude quickly. I was very confused at first, but then I realized that he was trying to take money from me. When I confronted him about it, he said, ""Honey, two dollars isn't even enough to buy me a soda!"" Later, he was talking about the situation to another employee of the bar within my earshot. I have never been treated so rudely by a bartender. I will never go back and I will advise my friends to do the same. Pros: Good crepes Cons: The bartender more

Fun and Great spot 9/5/2006

I had a great experience here! I had a first date here , which resulted in me asking my wife to marry me at this hidden treasure. Very low key and layed back place. If you don't get the vibe of fun and layed back no pressure here then go to Applebee's. I love my wife, and we will always go back to have a fun time here. Go and have a good time with locals and the servers! I'm glad this is place is here in Demum Clayton Pros: Great location for Demun Clayton Cons: Crowded Patio more

Will never go back 6/27/2006

Very over priced food and wine served to you by some of Saint Louis' rudest people. I will never go here again!!!!!!!!!! more
