The Scene
A long narrow dining room leads to a back self-service counter. A kosher dairy restaurant, Sari's has clientele come from all walks of life; teens from the local religious school mingle with shopkeepers and professionals over lunch. Neighborhood breakfasters congregate in the morning. Service is fast and friendly, to both regulars and newcomers alike.
The Meal
The emphasis is on baked goods, soups, and pizzas. The soups are mainly tomato-based vegetable to go along with a rib-sticking vegetable barley. Don't miss the home-baked rolls or the large fresh salads, an excellent addition. The main attraction is the pizza. The crust is crisp on the edges, yet chewy and thin in the center, and types range from simple red and white pizza to a vegetarian pie with olives and broccoli. There are various baked goods of high quality available for dessert.
If You Order One Thing
Try the vegetarian pizza. With the crust and the cheese, this is the closest to New York style pie in Pittsburgh.
