The worst dental office ever 5/21/2012

This dental office first worked with me to set up an appointment. The husband of Dr. Sandford confirmed my appointment and then the secretary the day of the appointment released my appointment due to the fact I did not reply to their text messages or emails. Then an emergency came up and they would not reschedule. This is the dumbest crap I ever heard of. They are totally unprofessional and what type of dental office has a husband do secretarial work after hours? They are totally not understanding and they won't ever be recommended by me or anyone I know in the dental field. They are totally stuck on themselves. more

Dentist's office not ethical 9/4/2011

I have had one consultation here, with Dr. Tina Mann. Previous to my visit, I called and spoke to a professional in the office 3 times about my insurance coverage and what I might expect during my visit and was advised that, though the insurance I have covers one cleaning a year, I'd have to pay for any x-rays that the dentist might require. I made an appt. and went in. 1. I was given two sets of x-rays before even meeting the dentist and there was no opportunity to refuse them as I was already being placed face-first in an unfamiliar machine before the word ""x-ray"" was used. This is not all right, it violates patient consent to begin procedures (necessary or not) without first obtaining consent, the only exception being during an emergency. 2. The cleaning I had scheduled never took place and the rates I've been shown for having the now-recommended cleaning are over $1000... for one deep cleaning of all teeth. I was told my insurance is being billed (beyond the $84 dollars cash that I paid before leaving the office) and I have two sets of x-rays (on file with a Dr. whom I have no intention of returning to). My teeth are in the same or worse shape than when I entered the office, ""worse"" may seem an accusation but my gums have been swollen and irritated all week since. I was never given Any info about how I might tend my own oral health, Dr. Mann never asked about my current health and hygiene practices or recommended anything but that I go pay her colleagues to assess my bank account..oops, I mean, to assess my ability to pay, oops i mean to see if I need ""grafts"" which was not clearly stated to be gum, root, nerve or any other type of tissues. I left that office scared, certain of my inability to pay and quite bothered by the payment schedules they showed me. Can anyone say 14-27% interest rates apply after one late payment without cringing? It's unconscionable and prevents people from receiving needed health care when Dr.'s operate this way. more
