I moved to Pottstown in 2000, where I first met Dr. Sharma and his staff. I had just suffered the terrible loss of one of my standard poodles when I moved to PA. Dr. Sharma made me feel at ease about my decision to put her down. I later moved to Muhlenberg Twp. in 2005 and tried two other veterinary hospitals nearby. Neither offered the care and consideration and medical knowledge of Dr. Sharma. I am a freelance medical writer, and Dr. Sharma serves my pets and me on an excellent level. We would not do without him. Any trip to the vet is now 45 minutes each way. It's more than worth it for the kind of care Dr. Sharma and his staff provide. more

A fabulous vet for cats 10/24/2012

My family has been going to SVH for about 16 years now. We first visited them with a kitty who had been through three rounds of urinary issues with another vet who was recommending a radical surgery. We went to SVH with him, and Dr Sharma had him cured with one round of medication after several months of back and forth with another vet. We've had many more experiences with them, not always perfect, but always in the best interest of our pets. Doc was also able to rehabilitate my moms Labrador who tore her ACL with minimal damage. He caught my 2 boys heart mummers very early which lead to us medicating their genetic heart conditions as early as possible. The only serious complaint I have about their practice is that there is always a wait, weather I'm picking up meds or brining in a pet for an appointment, but I would rather get the best care for my pets, and have to wait a bit. I highly recommend this practice to anyone with a pet. more

Money hungry and arrogant! 8/9/2012

I wish there was a 0 star rating. I am so upset with the vet and staff at the SAH. We had an appointment at 7:00, along with three other people, with one vet. We were HOME by 7:18. Needless to say we left very confused, then received a phone call from the receptionist because we had simply left.(The "Doctor" said we would receive a phone call the next day) I guess we were supposed to wait for her to help the now 3 other customers and get off of the phone. The "doctor" wanted immediately put her under for an x-ray without getting back test results from the urine and blood samples. When she called that evening I said to her that we were confused and she began to yell at me. Doing further research I found out that blood work would indiciate if my dog had what he was going to look for in the x-ray. I asked if it could be a simple infection, which would be evident in the urine and he said "Optimistically, yes." So, if you have money to throw around, are a vet yourself, and don't need an exp more

PAST customer 7/20/2012

I am happy to see that others feel the same way about Dr. Sharma and his staff as I do- there is more to being a good vet than the animal care alone. While my animals were well cared for for 11 years, the customer care and customer service has steadily declined over the past couple years. Dr. Sharma is pompous and unsupportive and his staff are curt, rude and more importantly inefficient and careless!! They lack respect for customers time or requests and do not honor what they say one conversation to the next! Dr. Sharma was fine to lose a cuatomer rather than address the issues that were brought up. good riddens- there are lots of other vets out there! more

Dr Sharma deserves respect 2/29/2012

Dr. Sharma is like a saint with animals. He saved my dogs life. really and truly. he is honest and up front and will let you know everything. My dog had a bowel obstruction and was going to die and he let me know step by step thru the entire process how to proceed. luv him more

Mr. Sharma not Dr.Sharma "he'd prefer GOD" 9/13/2011

Mr. Sharma and yes I wrote Mr. because he dosn't deserve the title of Doctor. Is not only a poor vet but a nasty pompus condescending person who does not like to be questioned on his diagnosis or the results of his treatments. \r \r He also has a nasty habit of making assumptions about the owners of his clients in regards to the nature of their character and expressing doubt about what they do for a living and thier ability to pay their bills.\r \r My wife normally takes the pets to the vet and has taken all 3 dogs and 2 cats for the past 6 years and every time she came home less then satisfied. I just ignored it but being I was off today I took my dog there and I say this with the greatest convictions. I took an animal there FOR THE LAST TIME. Find another vet before you waste your money, your time if serious enough your pets life and avoid be talked to like his servent. If you like be spoken to in a way that every word that comes out of his mouth and the look in his eyes that conveys " more

Great Vet - highly recommend 8/9/2011

Dr. Sharma is great with my dogs - all 4 of them. I have been taking them there for over 4 years and have not one complaint. He is a genuinely caring vet, the staff is great, and stable. Any time I have had a problem that required a dog to be seen right away, I have always been able to take them there. more

Dr Sharma does a fine job 5/23/2011

So far Dr Sharma has done a good job with my animals. I haven't experienced any of the negative things reported on this site. The most severe problem he dealt with was a begnin tumor on my dogs body so he hasn't had much to diagnosis so he hasn't had much opportunity to get things wrong. \r \r I think people will need to use their judgement when any Vet makes a recommendation. I do the same with my doctor and he's treating me. I don't take anyone's word carte blanche without doing my own research or getting a second opinion. So it's probably not fair to slam a doctor (Vet or otherwise) since it's a guessing game no matter what. Yes, we don't like to believe the doctors are guessing but they are. Its a process of eliminiation most of the time.\r \r Good luck. more

Sanatoga Animal Hospital is great! 12/14/2010

Dr. Sharma is a wonderful vet. We have went to him for years now and even moved out of the area and still come back to him most of the time. With all of our pets he has been caring and concerned and always is nice. Some of the staff could use some brushing up on people skills, I agree, but all around we love using this vet! In reading some of these messages one needs to understand how difficult it is to diagnose a talking adult person let alone an animal who does not tell you directly what is wrong, not to mention the fact that some animal diseases are very similar in nature. As an animal lover it does stink if something was misdiagnosed but I yet have found the perfect person! Dr. Sharma has always given his best with us. more

First time there, great experience 7/20/2009

I was recomended to go to Dr shama after moving to the area, I have a vicious dog, we had to muzzle her when he first came into the room for the shots and all, but after the shots and the checkup we took the muzzle off and she was fine with Dr Sharma, He was very informative about her behavior and why she does what she does, she did get alot of shots at once but she needed them, The only complaint I have is they are a little pricy, but other than that he was great!!! more

Not worth your time 6/23/2009

Gives way too many shots in one visit and too costly!!! My two dogs use to go there until I found a vet I really feel comfortable with (Ironstone Farms in Boyertown). My one dog did not like Dr. Sharma at all and my dog gets along with everyone which was odd. Since I changed I do not have any problems, less shots at once and some that are not needed as frequently, less costly and better with animals. more

I have been bringing my pets to Dr. Sharma for 15 years, and he is very caring, very loving to my pets. I would highly recommend him. There is another Dr. there (possibly Sharma as well but with less hair) that is not nice, rough with the pets, not nice. Ask for the nice Dr. Sharma and your pet will receive excellent care. If you get the other doctor leave immediately. more

Wonderful Vet 8/12/2008

Our dog Thatcher lived a happy life until the age of 18 under the care and wisdom of Dr. Sharma. Unlike some previous experiences, where she had to be carried in for visits, she always wagged her tail and seemed very happy to be seeing Dr. Sharma. He saw her through several accidents and illnesses and we were always quite pleased with his demeanor, his expertise, and also his office staff. We have no pet at this time, but if we get one, Dr. Sharma will once again be the doctor for it.\r Sharon Swavely more

terrible vet! 8/12/2008

Dr. Sharma is a terrible vet. I had 3 cats who died in his care because he misdiagnosed the problems. The last one I got away from him before further damage was done. She was allergic to the litter we were using but Dr. sharma didn't figure that out. He didn't know what was wrong with her or whyshe kept sneezing and had breathing problems. He suggested we just keep trying medicine until we found one that worked. We did that for a year and nothing work. I took her to Gilbertsville Vet. Hospital and Dr. Coniglario did a nasal endoscopi on her and found out she had allergies. We then did further investigations and were able to get a med. to help her then. Dr. Coniglari is the bomb-diggity!!! He really helps with every thing. Make the change before it's to late more

animal kindness 12/11/2007

I have been taking my cats to Dr. Sharma for many years and have always received excellent care. My last visit was a difficult one as I had to make the decision to put one of my cats to sleep. Dr. Sharma was very helpful and honest in his discussion with me about my options and the ultimate fate of my pet. Although a very tough time, his kindness and compassion made it a little easier to handle. Susan T. more

What a Temper! 7/26/2007

While the care provided by Dr. Sharma appears to be adequate, his people skills are terrible. He is condescending and pompous and has a terrible temper. If you don't agree with him, or don't understand him, he can fly off the handle with no warning at all. So, if you go to Sanatoga Animal Hospital, be sure to put on your subservient hat or you might be in for a very stressful and intimidating experience. more

Personal loving Vet 5/14/2006

We have had both of our dogs to this vet and Dr. Sharma has always been very helpful, as has his staff. The dogs are not traumatized and they enjoy his care.\r \r Highly recomended. more
