My favorite place 2/29/2008

I've never eaten anything but the sushi here, but I have NEVER been disapointed. That sara person at the bottom is a bitter hag, none of her reveiws were positive out of five she has done. Think about the pain in the neck customer from the movie ""waiting""- thats sara. \r The atmosphere is great, though I prefer to go when the crowd is light, it can get loud inside when it is full. A small place, not conducive to large groups. The sushi is terrific. A friend of mine that actually lived in Japan for some time swears by Samurai as the best place in the area. Thumbs up all the way- try the dancing dragon maki!\r \r On second thought, don't go, I want it all to myself! Pros: best sushi around, nice atmosphere. Cons: when crowded, loud and service can suffer more

Great Sushi!!! 4/24/2007

Samurai has great sushi, I don't know why other reviewers disagree. Perhaps they've only gone once. I've been to Samurai probably 8 times, and each time was excellent. I love sushi rolls, and Samurai has a great selection. Their Vietnamese roll is excellent, as is their New York roll. The fish has always been of good quality, and the service very friendly. The chefs at the sushi bar make beautiful dishes. My only complaints are the establishment is a little small, so at times you have to wait for a table... and! this one is silly... Samurai used to give you fresh sliced cold oranges at the end of your meal, and I loved this. It was such a treat, and a very effective palate cleanser. They have stopped doing this, but I'm assuming it's because the cost of oranges has sky rocketed.\r \r Either way... this a great sushi restaurant. I'm from CA and have always been used to very fresh sushi. I was delighted to find such a high quality sushi restaurant like Samurai. Pros: great sushi, fun service Cons: too small more

Great Area, Disappointing Sushi 3/27/2007

Great Ambience from the outside, inside was a different story. Seemed like a nice restaurant, I sat at the sushi bar, there were a handful of people there at the time. The waitress was very aggressive and not so pleasant. She was trying to rush me to order something right away and then seemed to be talking about me like a little kid to her coworkers b/c I am reviewing the menu. \r The portion size was very small. The only rolls that were a little larger cost me double the price as the ""regular"" sushi. They were good, but definitely were overpriced. I believe I had 5 different rolls and I was still starving after I had left. And my wallet was not what I thought it should be. \r Disappointed. Pros: Nice Ambience from the Outside Cons: Small portions, low quality sushi, poor service more

Horrible ""japanese"" food 3/26/2006

Unfortunately, I was extremely disappointed. In terms of service... Chinese girls wearing night robes, rudely serving me was not pleasant. The food, terrible. If I wanted to eat store bought frozen dumplings, I would have gone to Acme. The ginger dressing for the salad was unusally orange and overly sweet. The beef negimake tasted as though it was defrosted in the microwave for a few minutes too long. The white fish sashimi appetizer was obscenely cut and splattered with sauce and an unusual dallop of hot sauce. For the quality of food, the prices are ridiculous. And Japanese food, this is not. The makimono rolls... It's a shame when sushi chef's no longer take pride in their art. Then again, these were not Japanese sushi chef's so it no wonder that the sushi was disappointing. I would recommend all to steer clear from this establisment. more
