Went to Sammy's in December, 2009 and really enjoyed the food and service. On Fri., 9/10/10, the family wanted to go out for a seafood/fish dinner and everyone agreed on Sammy's. ...

sammys is the best at seafood its so kid friendly also i always order the king crab legs and jumbo shrimp combo..worth evey penny. They also give you a big chunk of cornbread,bread,cheese,and gardenia on the house. Pros: food , service Cons: it can get loud more

My surf & Turf was fantastic 1/6/2006

I am a long time customer. I love going to Sammy's. I love his wife she is a wonderful hostess and makes us always feel at home. I enjoy selectng from the extensive Surf & Turf dishes at Sammy's. Old fashion New England Seafood at it's Best 1/2/2006

I just moved to the Bronx from Boston, so I am used to great seafood. I never expected the Bronx to have a seafood restauarnt better than the great ones in Boston, but they do, Sammy's Fishbox on City Island has the best seafood I have ever eaten. I recently took my parent visting from boston to Sammy's they were blown away by the food. Pros: Super fresh Seafood, Great apple Martinis, Loved the fireplace Cons: lighting to bright more

Holy Cow I ate A 10LB LOBSTER 12/25/2005

I went to Sammy's last week and I couldn't believe it they actually had giant lobsters 6,8,10, 12 pounders. I ordered a 10lb lobster, which was something I have always wanted to do, The loster was only 10 dollars a pound. It was succulent and worth ever penny. My wife and I shared it, it was more than enough for both of us.. We also had a great drink called the Killer Bee..It was great and lef our heads buzzing. Grewart restauarnt it is a real happening.. Going for 15 years 12/17/2005

I love Sammy's I have been a customer for 15 years and have eaten there over 100 times, I have never had a bad meal in all of those visits. I would rather eat at Sammy's than any other restauarnt bar none. The food is not only great, but the portions are very large. My best friend asked me to join her at Sammy's last saturady night. I really ddidn't want to go up toCity Island, but I am glad I did. The Best Seafood in World 10/24/2005

Hi: I am a pilot and travel all over the world. I have eaten in hundreds of Restaurants throughout the world. I have never found a seafood that compares to Sammy's. The first thing I do when I come home from a trip is go to Sammy's for a great meal. My favorite is his extra big Alaskan King Crab legs.. My wife loves the baby back ribs and Jumbo Shrimp combo.. This is the best seafood experience I've ever had! Generous portions and quality food is what will bring me back to Sammy's again! You must try the bbq'd beef ribs as an appetizer, they are fork-tender, fallin off the bone good! Fresh Alaskan crab and lobster completed a terrific meal... my boyfriend and i decided to go out for dinner late on a sat night. we wanted sea food, but FRESH seafood. no red lobster over here... not that night anyway.. lol. i've always wanted 2 go 2 city island, so off we went. i picked a restaurant out just from driving around and i couldn't of picked a better one. sammy's fish box had great food, great service, great drinks and was over all pleasure to eat @. the food was fresh and plentiful. i am with out a doubt going back. on a scale of 1-10, i would give it a 9... more

Local Treasure 3/24/2005

I have lived on City Island where Sammy's is located but until recentlly, never tried it. I was astonished by the food. It was so good. I started with the best New England chowder I ever had and finished with a Giant piece of Key Lime pie also great. If you can believe it the in between was ever better.. Great fried Shrimp and the Steak surf & Turf I had were mouth watering.I highly recommend this restaurant for me it was the best seafood dinner I can ever remember eating.. I visited Sammy's for the first time last Saturady night on a recommendation of my girlfriend. I was astonished how beautiful and romantic the restuarant was. We started with fantastic apple martini's and then proceeded to split a 4 lbs stuffed lobster that was the best I ever had. The meal came with so many extra at no cost its was amazing. I can't wait to go back next week and try some of the other items. Pros: Beautiful decor, great food, real fireplace more

Absolutely the best king Crab legs I ever ate 2/21/2005

I am originally from San Francisco where great seafood is king. But I have to admitt that Sammy's fishbox on City Island was absolutely the best King Crab I have ever eaten. My party of 8 had a seafood feast sampling Sammy's menu and we couldn't believe how great the food was.. After leaving the restauarnt I called my mother in San Francisco who runs our family restauarnt and told her I just had the world best Seafood..I salute Sammy's fishbox . I've been to Sammy's a few times and the food is always marvelous. I highly recommend Sammy's to anyone who wants great seafood especially lobster and can't get to Maine. more
