One hour and fifty-seven minutes. It was one hour and fifty-seven minutes from the time we were seated until our entrees were served. The service was so ridiculously bad that I we...

Not hard to Please, but this was CONSISTANTLY BAD!!!!! 9/25/2006

So I picked this place for my birthday dinner because it had good reviews, and had a great price range on menupages. Well.... the food was not good, it was just bla, nothing special, nothing stood out, very average. The portions were ridiculously tiny as well, and I am totally aware of fine dining portions, I am a foodie and know good food and am totally appreciative when portions of amazing food come out tiny. The worst part of it all was that the menu was DOUBLE the price of what was listed on menu pages. So there we were, eating some really bland food, that was about half the portions of what it should be, at about 2 times the cost we had planned on paying. Pros: quant atmosphere Cons: taste, portions/price, service more

great atmosphere, great bar, good food 9/20/2006

I was walking by in the East Village and by chance I saw Samba-le. I was attracted by the cozy atmosphere. I had great time at the bar and excellent food. I highly recommend this beautiful restaurant Pros: atmosphere, bar, food more

REALLY CHARMING 9/13/2006

What a cozy, charming place. Went there on a date few weeks ago, and fell in love with the place (too bad my date was not as nice...). Tried a few plates and loved them all, especially the chicken with mushroom, and their salad with endive. They had a lot of vegetarian options too, and very light fares for people who want to eat healthy. Great prices!! Pros: charming, cozy, cheap prices more

BEST BAR 9/12/2006

Went there last night for a few drinks after work. What a great addition to the neighborhood. Pros: Great drinks, very generous pour more

great atmosphere good value for money 9/2/2006

fabulous samba classes and drinks! 9/1/2006

We went to Samba-le for the free samba classes last Monday and had a lot of fun. We enjoyed not only the classes but also free drinks. We liked the ambiance so much that we decided to stay for dinner. The food was great and the service friendly and attentive. I really recommend this fun place! Pros: fun food decor more

Not feeling it 8/30/2006

It was pretty crowded, and I don't think the distracted manager noticed my boyfriend and I waiting for a table, so we waited a little while. Couldn't seem to get anyone's attention. A bit of a sense of chaos. The tables were too close together, we were wedged in between 2 other couples. The food seemed unusual and interesting on the menu, we liked the meatballs well enough, but the rest of our appetizers were just okay. I had a fruit sangria that was overly sweet I thought, my boyfriend enjoyed his expensive glass of wine. I was disappointed in my experience, as I had read some good reviews on here. Guess I'll keep hunting. more

Wow!! 8/26/2006

Amazing Find! 8/22/2006

Samba Le is fantastic. I was lucky enough to stumble upon the previous reviews in a neighborhood search for a new restaurant and was MORE than please with the results. From the sincere and relaxed service to the deliciously homemade sangria and amazing bruchetta, Samba Le over-delivers on every account. I only hope I don't tell too many people how much I love it. I'm afraid I won't ever get a table again! Pros: Happy hour! An unbeatable value! more

Great food-atmosphere! 8/14/2006

I was in for the first time last week with a few friends. We stopped in for drinks- and ended up waiting for a table. We shared a few small plates- the sausages, meatballs, avocado bruschetta- and entrees- chocolate pasta, the meat lasanga. All generous portions! All delicious! This place is cozy, casual and a find! We will return! Pros: A delicious menu and nice waiters Cons: make reservations on the weekend- we had to wait a little.... more

tropical atmosphere 8/10/2006

Samba le gives New Yorkers yet another reason to eat out- because your apartment doesn't feel like Rio, you're fresh out of cachaca, and you might make faraofa if you knew what is was. Its friendly, casual service and tropical atmoshphere will make you wish it were an extension of your home. The meatballs are unexpectedly light and savory and the gnudi ranks up there with the city's best. Wine is affordable and the drinks are FANTASTIC. Start your night here, eat here, become a regular... more

gotta try it! 8/8/2006

The first thing when you enter Samba-le is the cozy athmosphere and the sweet rhythms of Brazilian Bossa Nova and Samba. Then, after a quick chat with the charming young owner Patrick, you will be treated with excellent Brazilian and Italian food. Pros: food, ambiance, friendly service more

really incredible! 8/5/2006

I traveled a lot and, among other places, I have been many times in Rio de Janeiro (Brazil) and in Italy. But, if you live in New York, you don't need to travel so much in order to find excellent Italian and Brazilian food. Pros: food, drinks, atmosphere Cons: Cannot think of one more

great brazilian-italian fusion plus lots of fun 8/3/2006

Brazilian-Italian fusion: this is something new for New York. And unexpected. Pros: food, exsotic drinks, atmosphere more

Charming place, welcoming atmosphere, yummy drinks!!! 7/24/2006

Having heard great things about Samba-le, I decided to give it a go for my 40th birthday celebration. I made a great choice. The samba lesson gave me a good workout, the mango sangria cooled me off, the appetizers made me smile (try the fried spheres of something or other - they are yummy!!), and the atmosphere was cozy! The indoor/outdoor seating was perfect for the smokers among us and great for socializing. Pros: Great ambiance, tasty drinks and bites, good service & no attitude. more

Sexiest spot, Great Food 7/23/2006

What a find. Very cozy, romantic, tropical feel. Moderate prices, flowing sangria. Bruschetta with avocado and brie cheese is amazing!! more
