TERRIBLE SERVICES 1/26/2009

We went there because it was convenient location to us. The terrible thing was that they took CASH ONLY and I?m surprised that the IRS still let them run their business like that.\r We were hungry and waited in the long line to be seated so we ordered some boxes of BBQ pork and chicken with soy sauce in the deli section where the butcher was very rude to customers and didn?t want to cut any pieces of the BBQ pork the customers asked for, he just wanted to sell the pieces he wanted to get rid off, so he can save the good pieces for display. Then, when we got the table, we ordered some food and while we were waiting for our order, we opened the box of BBQ pork, the waiter and waitress came and stopped us from eating. They said that we?re not allowed to eat the BBQ pork we ordered from them. Can you believe how ridiculous that sounds? We?ve never seen any restaurant treating their customers in such a way. You can try the same thing I did and see how it happens to yourself. We will never go back there again and do not recommend this to anybody because of the horrible situation we experienced. \r \r Pros: Food is okay\r Cons: Awful services, dirty, long wait, CASH ONLY.\r Pros: Food is okay Cons: Awful services, dirty, long wait, CASH ONLY more

Best Authentic Chinese Food in the Valley 12/27/2007

Sam Woo is the best authentic Chinese restaurant in the San Fernando Valley. Save the trip to Chinatown as they have another location there. The food is served family style in large portions, like most authentic asian restaurants. My favorite dishes are Peking Pork Chops, Watercrest stir fried w/ garlic (seasonal), wonton soup (wontons are the delicious!), Fried Fish top with minced pork in gravy, and (for those who dare to go fat) three layer pork with preserved cabbage, oyster/tofu hotpot, and the juicy flavorable BBQ pork. They also have a side BBQ deli section where you can order their soy sauce chicken, roasted duck, and/or other Chinese deli goods to go. My mouth is watering now! The service is fast, as they hustle to get your food on the table quickly, so no time for smiles. This is an in-and-out restaurant as the lines go out the door, but you will get seated quickly. It's worth the $$. The only flaw is that it's cash only. I'm hungry now. Enjoy! Pros: Yummy Chinese Food Cons: Cash Only, seating, parking lot can get full as its next to a grocery store. more

Best Chinese BBQ in town 8/26/2007

Ther service is average. The guys don't seem to smile, but the food makes up for it. I don't know what the other reviewer was talking about. They didn't have steamed beef on their menu. The food is fast and the portions are huge. Just don't go during the weekend at normal lunch or dinner hours. Go early or go late. The line will run right out the doors during the weekend. The calamari with spicy salt was tasty. The pork chops with peking sauce was a great departure from typical sweet and sour pork. The wontons are tasty and fluffy. The bbq is also great. The other review talked about fatty bbq pork. Well of course it's fatty! It's pork shoulder! Fat is a vessel for flavor in my book. Pros: prices, portions, food Cons: lack of decor, sometimes sevice, long wait during lunch or dinner hours. more

Disappointed 9/8/2006

I read the other review for this restaurant which is why we went there. It's cash only (which we didn't know) and the food was awful. We had barbeque and ordered from the stir fry menu--the beef was tough and oversteamed with no flavor, not even the sauce, and the barbeque pork was fatty. And DON'T order the house special chow mein! Maybe we didn't order the right things, but I'm not going back for another try. more

best chinese food in town 5/6/2005

I was introduced to this place by people who live in the area who told me that this was the best in town. They were not kidding! I even had to wait for a table in the middle of the week! This is definitely a local favorite. The duck, fried clamari, fried rice, and Szechwan string beans were fantastic. I highly recommend this place. Pros: authentic food, convenient location Cons: cash only, some waiting more
