Sam Cavato Mens Wear

In a city of close to 4 million, needless to say there are many places that cater to lawyers, big time oil men, fat cat lawyers and bankers, and other master of the universe types. However, after pulling a temp duty assignment with DoD in St. Louis I became enamored with Sam Cavato's men's wear, because in Houston the attitude was what you see is what you get and if you don't see it, much less if it is not in your size then thumbs up to you. Not so with Sam Cavato's. They would go out of their way to accomodate a fairly hard to please sartorial request by getting out the fabric books from every vendor they carried, from expensive to the least expensive...so I don't buy into some of the posters arguments that everything offered by Sam Cavato's was completely through the roof in terms of price. Compared to Wal-Mart, Target and JosABank it was more expensive, but at least I knew that I would still be wearing the same spot coat next year and it would not have come apart at the canvas duck work in the chest area or under the arms. I knew the cashmere was not 1/16"" thick and only my toilet paper was thicker, and finally no off the rack suit has fit me better than Canali (yes...it cost more, but knowing that the Canali suit I bought in 1997, I am still wearing today without one blemish on it, tells me it was an investment well made). So ask yourself. Do you want to look good or do you want to look like you slept in the bus station last night? The old saying of you get what you pay for is never so true. And thanks Chris and Sam...you read my mind as to what I will probably like better than me and you send me the swatches to prove it. more

first...they offer nothing that cannot be found elsewhere for much less...and they are certainly not worth tolerating any attitude...price notwithstanding...even if i shop the big apple or out west...i don't care WHO carries the label...if the ""help""...thats what they are...displays ANY attitude with me...my money...and my wallet...goes right back out the door...guys...go elsewhere... First of all, every single thing that Sam Cavato sells is extremely overpriced. Literally, every...single...thing. The average price of the ties that I saw was $160. For a tie. Even their ""Sam Cavato"" brand products were much too overpriced. It was about $240 for a sweater. I can go to Marshall's and buy the EXACT same item (last year's model perhaps) and it would only cost me $50. Sure, they might claim that their customer service is worth spending the extra money for. However, that brings me to my next point. The men working there might be the most deceptive salesmen in the world. I went (only because I had a gift card) and decided to only buy items which were on sale. However, the items on sale are on sale for a reason...a reason which they completely go out of their way to not tell you: defective merchandise. That $240 sweater I mentioned? I got it for $80. However, upon getting the merchandise home, I noticed a faded, yellow, horizontal line going across the front. That goes to my final point: their return policy. Upon discovering the defect, I proceeded back to the store and attempted to return the sweater. Impossible. The only thing they would give me was a store credit. Upon realizing the most I could get with an $80 store credit is a pair of socks, I thought I might try and get the sweater professionally dry cleaned to get the stain out. No such luck. Finally, after all that, I went back to the store and pleaded with the manager to at least give me a store credit at that point. I figured a pair of socks I can wear is better than a sweater I can't. No luck. After a dry cleaning, the return policy (which is written nowhere on the receipt) apparently says that you can't return the item. Avoid the place. Save your money and your sanity.
