If you can spare 3 hrs on a holiday.. 12/1/2012

Then the prices at this location are somewhat closer to what a THRIFT STORE prices should be. Bonuses are that the store is open till 10pm and all clothing is 50% off on every holiday..even the odd ones. These are the only days I frequent the store, because I refuse to pay (besides cannot afford) a $12 shirt, $40 purse, $15 painting..that im only looking to paint over..a 7$ mens dress shirt, some dusty (hardly vintage) $9 fabric, $19 sweater, and definitely not the pair of $99 top brand name jeans I seen there. I WILL SAY..That shopping this Salvation Army is close to shopping an outlet mall. I have purchased brand new. Victoria Secret sleep pants that were never worn for under $2 (all on 1/2 days) original copyright design dresses you wont find elsewhere and a pair of Seven for all Mankind Jeans in great condition for under 2 $..not to mention the other great denim labels I found..if you have the time to dig. However, furniture, dressers, vintage vanitys are definitely overpriced compared to the many other Salvation Army locations I have frequented. But I guess if The Shores pays those prices..they can get away with it. I on the other hand..would purchase much more on regular days if the prices were reasonable. I mean..seriously..an old 70s slide projector should NOT be over $30 and jeans should not be the cost of. HALF my allotted food money for the month. The thrift is supposed to cater to the underprivileged. .I can find better and much more affordable clothes at the cute and trendy resale shop down the street. Shame. more

They Put This In Where Woolworths Used to Be! 5/30/2006

Of course, I had to check this one out in my old neighborhood. There used to be a big woolworths in this building when I was a kid. And I couldn't wait til I was old enough that Mom would let me cross Harper by myself to go there. Those were the days. I lived off Downing and if you want to walk to the army...its a good idea to walk down fresard where the light is. I really didn't like this army that much and I don't know why. Probably because I didn't find any good deals at the time. But that could change if I was there precisely at the appropriate moment. more
