Be Smart. Don't listen to the good reviews or the bad ones on this site. Many of them are either disgruntled ex-employee or failing students who have an ax to grind. Don't be "anoynomus". Go check out the apartments at Saluki yourself. Meet the staff first hand, see the apartments and talk to anyone you see on the grounds who may be living there and then form your own opinion. It's the smart thing to do because you can save a TON of money living there! If you are raising a family, it may not be the place for you because they have studios and one-bedrooms only. But if you are single, working or studying in school, it is a "makes-sense" place to stay for a few years. \r \r Many of the apartment offerings in Carbondale have advantages and flaws...even the best ones. Saluki Apartments is one of the best VALUES for the money in Carbondale hands down. CHECK IT OUT FOR YOURSELF!!!! more

If you plan on living in the one bedroom apartments at Saluki Apartments, be prepared for squeaky floors and paper thin walls. While I was able to put up with these annoyances for my one year lease, I since lost complete faith in Saluki Apartments because of their move out process. \r \r After moving out and giving back my keys their direct deposit system charged me an entire extra months rent. The management took nearly two months to get me that rent money back. They then had the nerve to tell me that they had given me to much back even though it was the proper amount. Closing my checking account was the only way to make sure that Saluki Apartments did not take out anymore rent money from me. \r \r It has been 162 days since moving out of Saluki Apartments and I have still not received my security deposit back. I was never informed of any reason why I still had not received my deposit, only that I would get it eventually. I have talked to the management multiple times with no success. more

It is the least expensive way to get your own bathroom in Carbondale. The complex is next to the fire station so that can be a trip when your are trying to sleep and they go testing the sirens several times a day. People smash windows on first floor apartments every now and then, Management is desperate to fill any apartments, and overall the apartments are trash, but the price is right. more

Save yourself time, energy, and a lot of hassle by renting elsewhere. The management doesn't really seem to have a clue what is going on. It took over 6 months to get my deposit back and then it was short $50 dollars. According to Illinois law a landlord must give written notice within 30 days of when the lease ended any reason why you won't be getting your deposit back. This didn't happen and I didn't do any damage anyways. Plus, I wouldn't have gotten anything back if i hadn't hounded them every week. In addition, the premises are dingy. Scoundrels. more

My best friend and I lived in Schneider for two years, and we know live across from one another in our own studios. If we want to spend time together we can and when we need our own space we both have our own studio, I could not recommend a better way to live at college with your best friend. more

I lived at Saluki Apartments for two years and had a great experience. As a single female, I always felt safe and comfortable in my home and the surrounding area. The apartments are spacious enough for one person and extremely affordable! I also liked living within a 10 minute walk to campus and having multiple bus stops near by. more

I had a wonderful senior year living at Saluki Apartments. I could not have asked for a more wonderful staff. I was very fortunate, because not only was I able to maintain a great tenanted to property management relationship I also made a few friendships as well. I would have signed for another year without hesitation if I had only chosen to pursue my MBA program at SIUC. Nevertheless, I would recommend Saluki Apartments to any SIUC Student that is looking for an affordable, safe, and customer service friendly place to live. more

I think Saluki Apartments is great. The space I have is perfect for School and it's close to campus. Riding my bike is no problem. It's hard to find a park for my car sometimes because its seems like everyone lives here. I don't blame them... rent is very cheap for what you get, I mean, think about it, a studio for $295 a month is'nt bad and it's actually clean! I checked out some OTHER apartments before coming here and some of them were disgusting. All the doors in my building are locked and I feel very safe and my neighbors are generally cool, no problems with music and stuff. For me being a single student, this is paradise away from home. PROS: It's safe, inexpensive, clean with decent people as neighbors. CONS: Car parking sometimes. more
