The Scene
Saltwater Cowboy's Key-West casual meets no-frills frontier atmosphere provides a warm welcome to both diners and drinkers, and the restaurant has successfully created two spaces to attract both singles and families. The adult-oriented bar is dominated by warm wood tones and a stone fireplace, while the main dining room wows the kids with its fishing nets, cowboy boots and plank wood tables.
The Food
The Cowboy's fare is surprisingly superior for such a family-friendly spot. Go for the supple chilled shrimp and stone crab appetizer-- though the claws can be small, they're still a scarce treat in these parts. Also sample the "perfect pair" entree options, an array of mix-and-match specialties. A popular coupling is the tender, juicy beef medallions with the flaky, fresh blackened grouper, Don't miss the signature fried strawberries-- served warm, the plump fruit is bathed in funnel-cake batter and dusted in powdered sugar.
