So it's right next to temple square, the basketball arena (United Center?), and close to the heart of downtown. An unlimited daily parking pass to the ramp cost $5 which you have to pay for upon arrival if driving, but not a bad price given you're staying in downtown.
I saw some reviews on hotels complaining about rude people behind the desk, so being a college aged couple that definitely don't look mormon or rich, and just getting out of a 24 hour car ride, my fiancee and I expected the same, however nobody seemed judgemental. We even bought a bottle of wine and of course forgot a bottle opener, and the desk even gave us one to use
Probably wilder places you could be for a new years celebration, but Salt Lake City is amazing and beautiful and I would love to live there some day. The hotel was clean and nice I thought, and price was moderate ($80-90 a night is what we spent)
and the skiing is better than anywhere in the United States (barring Jackson Hole)
Pros: nice location
Cons: Salt Lake City night life is far from going all night
