Sal's Italian Restaurant

Years ago there used to be a Sal's in the same plaza as my neighborhood Publix and after hearing rave reviews, I decided to give it a try. Ew. I thought everyone was hyping up nothing. I remember ordering the chicken marsala (I have since sworn off all 'shrooms) and did not like it at all. Fast forward to 2006. I'm not sure if the one near my apartment closed because of poor location (it's actually a great restaurant location) or poor service or poor food. But I went to a Sal's in Boynton (too lazy to create an entry for Boynton -- sorry) with my sister and her kids and it was SO good! Granted, the place is smaller than a Palm Beacher's walk-in closet, but the food is great. If you like garlic, you'll LOVE the garlic rolls. I try to duplicate it at home and still haven't hit it. My sister and I ate so much we made ourselves sick. Or at least I did. I should have stopped eating, but it was so good, I couldn't! We ordered a pasta dish and a pizza and still had leftovers. So did the kids. Or at least her son did -- he stopped eating his lasagna and finished off his sister's pasta. What I thought was really cool was that the waiter brought out pizza dough for the kids to entertain them while the food came out. Much cleaner (and cooler) than Play Doh. more

I can't believe I haven't tried this place out sooner! This restaurant serves up the authentic New York Style pizza. The crust is tasty-- not too doughy, not greasy and not too thin. The sauce is delicious and the ingredients are always fresh. They also have an AWESOME take out deal! On Mondays and Tuesdays they sell their large pies for about $6 or $7. Don't forget to try their garlic knots--- to die for!!! This is DEFINITELY my favorite pizza joint. They also have a full Italian menu, but I haven't eaten at this location. I've gone to Boynton location to dine in and I will review that location in the future. more
