Salon 135

Two weeks ago I had a hair cut by a stylist who said he had graduated from Vidal Sasoon. He must have failed the course as it has proven to be the worse hair cut I have had in 20 years and at a cost of $38.00++. I am so disappointed and I hate my hair so be careful when you choose this salon. more

After bouncing around from different barbers and salons in the area, I finally tried Salon 135. I walked in on a weekday morning and the receptionist promptly paired me with Lindsay. She did what the others failed to do. She listened to what I had to say and made sure I received exactly what I wanted. What a concept! Overall I would say she is skilled, courteous, clean and easy on the eyes. I have no complaints about my experience there and they have earned my repeat business. more

Had a horrible experience at this salon. Staff acted like they could careless about my cut and left we waiting for 20 min. even though I had an appointment. I overheard them making fun of a patron right after they left the salon. Bad people, bad place to get your hair done. more

I have been going to Salon 135 for the past 2 years for both eyebrow & upper lip waxing and haircuts. Every time I go the person the people who handle my stuff are extremely attentive and do such a perfect and thorough job. The staff are really friendly and I have a fun time there. Christy is an amazing hair cutter and she gave me a super trendy hair cut. Steven has always been friendly every time I walk in. I've been getting my hair cut by Alan at Salon 135 for many years--since they were on the opposite side of Franklin St. Alan has always cut to flatter my thin curly hair, and when it turned gray and straight, he cut a new style that I continue to receive compliments on even months later. i recently donated my hair to locks of love and trusted alan to cut 10+ inches of my hair and style it to fit my face and hair type. everyone loved the new cut which made it much easier (and a great deal of fun) to make such a drastic change. even when i go several weeks longer between cuts i still get compliments. located on Franklin Street, Salon 135 is a Chapel Hill institution. I've been going for years and have always gotten a good cut or color. Sylists really care about what YOU want, how much time you want to spend doing your hair and your type of hair. Pros: good with color and cuts Cons: more expensive than some places, but worth it more

I arrived to this Salon without an appointment and they did all that they could to squeeze me in with the next stylists available. Did I forget to mention that they wanted to know my preference in stylist (male or female) but it did not matter to me. Alan was able to sqeeze me into his schedule. After looking at the texture of my hair and shape of my face, he automatically recommended a hair style that I would have never thought of...at the end of the day, I left that Salon very pleased with my new "do" and since then I have kept that look...as all I get is compliments on how great that cut makes me look....thanks Alan! I am shocked as well at the negative reviews! I don't think we can be talking about the same place! I have been going to Johnnathan for years now and I am always so impressed by the way he can tell me what is going to look best on my facial structure and he always makes me happy. He's so creative and my hair always looks great. I didn't even know I had curly hair before I started going to him! It used to be this unmanageble frizz that I had to dry straight everyday but he taught me how to style my hair and now it's curly and it takes me literally 5 minutes to do! I am an extremely tolerant person; it takes a lot to rustle my feathers at businesses. I have never had a worse salon experience in my life. It was my first visit before going to Chicago for a wedding, and I wanted a simple trim. After sitting down to have my hair washed, I realized that my hairdresser was ill and started coughing and sneezing. She told a co-worker that she couldn't go to the doctor b/c her insurance hadn't started, but she never should have been cutting hair that day. Three days later, I woke up in Chicago with a terrible upper respiratory infection and had a miserable day of travel back to Raleigh and missed work on Monday. The cut was mediocre at best. The staff is horrible. They spend more time flirting with each other than they do cutting hair. I think the owner really pushes the stylist to see as many people as they can in an hour. You really feel rushed. not very clean. Pros: a really quick haircut. Cons: rude unprofessional staff more

I have been getting my hair cut and styled for years, and have never had such a bad experience as this. I went in with beautiful long hair and told the stylist I wanted a trim. On top of that, I brought in a picture of myself with the desired lenth which I told him I only wanted it maximum 2 inches shorter. Well, after he assured me in a horrible french accent that he'd only trim a little, he washed my hair and then spun me so I couldn't see the mirror. When he turned me around, I was HORRIFIED! He'd cut off about 7 inches and the cut looked absolutely aweful! He kept fluffing it saying it just needed to be styled, and I told him I couldn't go out in public like that...It really was the worst possible cut ever, added like 10 years to my face. Seeing how unhappy I was, he washed and cut my hair again. When he turned me around, I started crying because he had made it look even worse. I have never seen anyone butcher someone's hair like that. When the manager saw me crying and telling the guy I didn't want him to touch my hair again, he came over and fixed it in 5 mins. Even though it was now just below my ears, it looked decent. Pros: If you want to look horrible, this is your place! Cons: EVERYTHING!!! They'll chop your hair off more

Salon 135 was great! I called literally 15 minutes before and snagged the last open appointment they had for the day. They were great about fitting me in even though I was a first time customer. I had recently gotten a hair cut, but it hadn't been what I wanted and I was really disappointed in it, and after a couple weeks of thinking about it decided to get it re-done here. Jonathan was my stylist and he was GREAT. He took what I wanted and my requirements and turned them into a great cut. I really know nothing about hair and am always awful at telling my stylist what I want, and he did a great job deciphering. I have really thick hair and he thinned it out allowing my curls to finally come back. Thick frizzy blah hair into light curly and great! I will definitely go back again and the price isnt bad either- $38 dollars flat rate for the cut Pros: skill, level of care, fun location more
