The best Italian pastry shop in the world. I have 4 traditions in my life.\r 1) Going to Sal + Dom on St. Joseph's Day\r 2) Going to Sal + Dom on Palm Sunday\r 3) Going to Sal + Dom on Easter\r 4) Going to Sal + Dom on Christmas Eve\r I always bring pastries from Sal + Dom to work on St. Joseph's Day and Christmas Eve. I drive all the way from New Hyde Park to get their pastries, cakes, and cookies. They have the best Coconut Custard and Chocolate Cream Pies. What I love the best is they don't rush you when you picking your pastries. more

Fantastic Bakery 2/11/2011

I have been buying cakes and pastries from Sal & Dom's for over 10 years. Whether it's a birthday cake for my son, or cupcakes for my daughter they taste fantastic. Friends and family always inquire where they are from. You can't beat the price for the quality you are getting. Hands down one of the best bakeries in the 5 boroughs. I live on the Queens side of the Throgs Neck Bridge, but it is worth the trip. If they were any closer to my house I would be there on a weekly basis. more

Best Italian Bakery! 2/10/2011

Most Delicious Wedding Cake 11/14/2010

Millie from Sal & Dom's designed our Halloween-themed wedding cake and I can't rave about it enough! Not only was it elegant and beautiful, but it was the most delicious cake I have ever eaten. We live in Queens, but I tell you: I will travel to the Bronx to Sal & Dom's for all of our cake needs! The staff is incredible and the pastries are scrumptious. I was one happy bride! more

Best cake in the Bronx. I promise 9/6/2008

I needed a cake for my daughters 2nd birthday party and was tired of the bakeries around my way.(there are no good bakeries in the Sounview area) A friend of mine told me about Sal and Dom's so I thought I would try it out. I got yellow cake with vanilla pudding on one side and chocolate on the other. It was a Dora cake and decorated beautifully. It was the best cake I've tasted in a very long time. The prices are not to bad I would be willing to pay even more if I had to. I plan on getting my cakes from only them when I have my girls birthday parties. I recommend this place to everyone. Pros: great cake, friendly staff Cons: no cons more

The best cookies and pasteries anywhere. They do mail order now. Call 718 515 3344---Ask for Carlo. They can't send pasteries yet--just cookies. They are still on Allerton Ave. off Laconia.{ 1108} more

Best Pastries in the Bronx 8/12/2006

I love Sal & Dom's Pastry Shop. It's definitely what I consider to be a Bronx staple! Great Italian treats and they even have a great sugar-free selection! You won't find too many places like this in the Bronx, unless you head over to Arthur Avenue (Little Italy), but I still love Sal & Dom's the best.\r \r My mom has been taking me there since I was a little girl. The lace cookies and cannolis are the tops.\r \r It can be crowded at times. So it's better to get there early. \r \r Prices are reasonable, but it doesn't matter. The pastries are so good, they're worth the money spent. PROS: Tasty treats, Local CONS: more

Impressive selection. 6/13/2006

This is a very nice pastry/bakery, I see it on my way home when I?m on the bus and I once got a craving and got off a stop later and walked over. The folks there were nice and I bought a few cake-like things, they were large fat cookies but they resembled small cakes. Anyway, I enjoyed my purchases but they lacked something in flavor ( they weren't very sugary or sweet but not bland by any means) and they had a large variety of cakes decorated for different themes. I liked the cookies and they serve a mean coffee ? and I love strong coffee. I haven?t been back and that?s only because I would have to get off of my bus and pay again to catch the bus and that?s just not economical. more

Sal & Dom's Pastry Shop 6/6/2004

Sal & Dom's has been a part of my life since birth. No matter how far we had to travel, a holiday is never complete without their cookies and pastries. There is no bakery that can compare. They are the best hands down. Pros: friendly, clean, variety more

Great pastries. 2/20/2003

This bakery is the talk of the Bronx. During the holidays people come from all over the place to grab delightful pastries of all kinds. Trust me their pastries are worth the wait during the holidays. Suggest you go there early during those times. Their normal schedule is ok...not as busy. Great service, and great food. Their Canoles are out of this world. I am kinda of sad to be posting here because now more people will know of this pastry shop. Great Italian Pastry and Bread. Take out only...but trust me your mouth will melt with their delightful pastries. more

Owner Message
  • Sal & Dom's Pastry Shop was established in 1956, by Sal Rapisarda and his son-in-law Dom. Sal had been an established baker when he arrived from his native Sicily after World War II. Upon his arrival in the U.S., he continued passionately working in this creative profession. Dom had apprenticed throughout the city, at several top bakeries adopting and perfecting some of the finest recipes and procedures.
Although the bakery has changed its locale a few times, our philosophy that a quality, fresh product, at a fair price has not changed. Relying on these principles has created a large, loyal customer base for many years with generations of families. As we proudly enter our fourth generation as a prominent family owned and operated bakery, we look forward to continuing to provide the same high quality products that have become synonymous with our name.
