my friends and i have become regulars here. me and my husband have been known to go at least a few times a month and some friends a few times a week! the train is awesome, its great way to eat sushi without braking the bank. price by the plate, i can usually spend half of what i would at any other sushi place and be totally stuffed! try the baked mussels, they are amazing!! this place is great if you haven't tried many things, you can get a plate for $2 in stead of spending around $10 for a whole roll and see you like it first. good sushi..go choo choo train 8/4/2008

I took a friend here my first time and it was good. The sushi train was awesome but I wish they would have more choice. Overall, it was a wonderful experience. I definitely will go back here again eventhough it took me about an hour plus to drive up there! Pros: good parking Cons: busy and had to wait for seats at the sushi bar more

Great fresh sushi, very reasonably priced 5/23/2008

I travel all over the U.S. and try different places and I happened upon this place January 2007 while working in K.C. and I loved it I went back about three times in that two week period and took other people I worked with they all loved it. I am back in the area again May 2008 and i have been twice already and iI am planning on going back tonight so I felt i had to share with everyone!! They have an oval shaped sushi bar and it has an 18 car train that carries sushi and you see what you like and grab it then the sushi chef's are constantly preparing more. You can also order off the menu at the bar or sit at a table. I had all the sushi I could handle and miso soup and a soft drink spent $27.00+ tip and im a big guy!!! Pros: atmosphere, freshness, price Cons: not open 24-7! more

I have only eaten the sushi there but it is a great value for the sushi. The Sushi is made fresh in front of you. Just get there early when the train is going. Pros: Fresh sushi Cons: Sometimes a wait when the train is going more

amazing Sushi 12/10/2006

The best steakhouse ,very fresh, variety.... so perfect. Also such a huge parking space. Service - kinda average depends on who taking care of you. I was so lucky, met a very nice smile girl.... she always there on the weekend!! come see her... she's the best. more

I have been eating here for about four years now. Very friendly staff and excellent food. Very good Value. I have only eaten on the steakhouse side. Their couple Steak and Chicken combo for 40.00 dollars is great! Pros: Inexpensive, Green tea is great! more

good tasting sushi at good price 8/13/2002

For sushi-lovers of metro KC, this is a great place. Only $1.95 a plate, more if you order. It is fresh, and the chefs prepare in front of you in the middle of the sushi bar. The revolving ""sushi train"" is their sushi bar, very modern Asian invention, now in Sakura. more

  • Sakura Japanese Restaurant is a Sushi Restaurant & Japanese Steakhouse located in Shawnee, KS. We offer a variety of dining experiences to suit any taste. We serve Fresh Sushi, Fresh Shasimi, Teriyaki, Hibachi, Tempura & more. We offer four dining options. The first one is the sushi train where you sit at a sushi bar and watch sushi chefs prepare your sushi in the center and put it on a toy train. The second option is the steakhouse where the chefs prepare food and perform tricks in front of you. The steakhouse is the most common option for large parties. The third option is to simply sit at a table. At the table, you're allowed to order sushi off of a menu or order food from the kitchen. The fourth option is to simply order takeout.
