Saint Clair Shores Public Library

I have been visiting this library since I was a child and having to do book reports. Of course this was before the internet when kids used to do reports. I now take my three kids there. The children librarians are just awesome. Every summer the summer reading program is untouchable. The other children's events organized by the librarians are awesome also. My son attended the Harry Potter event a few years ago and it was outstanding. My daughter recently attended the murder mystery event (rock n roll over dead) and she had a blast. Bravo to these outstanding librarians that make reading such a great adventure for our children. Having said this my only complaint about this library is that whenever I am looking for a specific book I have to reserve it and have it sent from another library. Thank goodness this is a co op library. So if you haven't tried the summer program give it a try you won't be disappointed. more

so much that I would skip school (Lakeview) and walk down to this library a lot. I love books and this library was always friendly and comforting. The shores library actually has a quiet room with chairs and the door can close so you can read in your own space. Lake St. Clair is beyond the parking lot in the back and it is nice to walk down by the water to read also. Whenever they did not have a book that I went there for...the librarian was kind enough to order it for me. They were kind enough to teach me about the dewey decimal system when I was growing up also. I graduated on time with a 3.6 gpa but no, there is never a justification in skipping school! more

This library may not be as big as some other city libraries, but it houses LOTS. The staff there is very helpful. The library is clean and well kept and very organized, as are the people who work there. It is located on the corner of 11 Mile and Jefferson, right next to the city offices and across from the police station. They have a few computers for kids to play on for 30 minutes at a time, while parents and older kids browse for their books. They also offer various club events, and a summer reading program for kids. Parking is located behind it, and is plenty. more
