Best

My family and I have enjoyed sailing boat from it's advent! There is not anything George, his wife, family, and employees wouldn't do for their customer. Weather its your first ...

Worst

I ordered fish and chips one day and the fries were really hard plus the fish was disgusting! I would never recommend this restaurant to a friend. Never will I ever go here again....

It's a MUST! to eat here! 3/14/2011

My family and I have enjoyed sailing boat from it's advent! There is not anything George, his wife, family, and employees wouldn't do for their customer. Weather its your first visit or your 100th they are there to create Chinese cuisine to saciate every pallet and if there is any flavor one might not appreciate (such as, fish and chips.... And really who orders fish and chips at a CHINESE restaurant?). They would have happily made something else or, perhaps given u your money back and suggested Buzz's FISH AND CHIPS! All negativity aside we appreciate George an his establishment for their excellent service, atmosphere, and food! \r Thank you! more

What a pleasant surprise! 6/19/2010

overnite stay in redding en route north to Washington and we decided to trust other reviews and had dinner here. Absolutely the best, freshest fried calamari I've ever had. Before that, it was fried calamari at the Blackfish Cafe in Lincoln City which was great. This calamari was huge and tender and served almost immediately. husband loved it, too. The asparagus beef in black bean sauce was okay. The beef was tough (nice to know they don't treat the beef artificially to have it melt in your mouth) and the bean sauce was mild. Husband liked the dish. Vegetable chow mein was okay. Husband loved the chow mein. Pros: service, food Cons: noise more

Mom's favorite Chinese in Redding 12/26/2008

This is my mother's favorite Chinese restaurant in Redding. There are one or two places I like better, but the food here is always good, prices are decent, and the pupu platter is still the best appetizer around. more

Excellent For A Smaller Town 9/21/2007

I've eaten at Sailing Boat many times and I know the owner, George. He's super-friendly and seems to take great pride in his restaurant. It shows in the quality of the food. When I say it's excellent for a smaller town, I mean just that. I've lived in NYC, The SF Bay Area, and Portland, Or. and I've eaten in some really great Chinese restaurants. It's not that the food at Sailing boat is of lessor quality or that they don't know how to cook as well. It's just that it's not quite as hard-core as I prefer it to be. I've never been to China or Hong Kong so it's possible that I have some misconceptions about what real Chinese food is supposed to be like. But I would prefer to see some more exotic dishes on the menu or more exotic ingredients. But this doesn't change the fact that the dishes on the menu there that I've eaten taste fantastic. I'd just like to see more and more different. I'd guess that the reason the menu is more main stream is because in a smaller town there are more

Sailing Boat is highly recommended! 12/4/2005

The Sailing Boat combines great food and great service with affordable prices. I have tried many of their dishes and have never been disappointed. The food is fresh and served in a timely manner. They offer good specials every day. I've taken friends and family here, and even had them cater an event. Outstanding. PROS: Good food, good service, good prices CONS: more

The sailing boat in redding is a great resturant. They have a wonderful staff and in a great envoirment. They are also one of the most reasonably priced resturants in Redding too. Their portions are large and also inexpensive. PROS: Large Portions, Cheap Food, Great Service, CONS: They do not have sushi more
