Saigon Rose Vietnamese Rstrnt

Saigon Rose is located in Lake Meridian off Kent Kangley Road (516), in what used to be the Albertson's plaza. They are a Vietnamese & Thai restaurant. They carry Pho, a wonderful beef noodle soup; great for those Northwest cold dreary days when all you want to do is curl up in a comfy chair with your blanket, next to the fireplace, and read a good book. For other days, they carry your usual Thai favorites, Phad Thai, Swimming Angel (Rama), Larb Gai. Our favorites are the Honey Peanut Prawns, Crispy Noodle (Bird's Nest), Beef Green Beans, and combo appetizer. For dessert, they started carrying hum bows (pork & coconut) and mango cheesecake. (Which I am eating for breakfast now, with coffee) This restaurant is a mom & pop shop. They accept major credit cards, except American Express. They bill themselves as Thai & Vietnamese. I'm not sure they pull either one off really well. BUT, the food is still good despite that. Just because they don't fit a stereotype, doesn't matter. I haven't tried all the food, but there is one dish that is so incredible I just can't risk not eating it when we stop here. It's the honey peanut shrimp (a house specialty). YUM!! We also usually get the combo appetizer, which is good as well (coconut prawn, beef satay, eggroll) It was here that we found out our older daughter is in love with shrimp. She loves them any which way. This is a great take out location, and is not far from the Lake Meridian Park & Ride. Call ahead while on the bus and drive right over for no wait at all. more
