Safe Harbors of Nevada

First of all I would like to thank all of the staff at Safe Harbor for letting me be here until my interstate compact goes through, so that I am able to go back home to Michigan. I was diagnosed with MS in prison which it makes me unable to work, even though I couldn't work I was able to do the program just like everyone else. This program works if you work the program, and truley want to lead a sober life. I need to clear a few things up about Safe Harbor. Lenoard is a fair and honest man who looks out for the indiviuals that actually work the program the way it is designed. And if you obey the rules and do as you are suppose to do everything works out to your benifit. So dont believe everything that is posted in these reviews I'm living proof this program works. more

This man Leonard is CON-ARTIST, as stated by another person above. I completely agree!!! He takes your money for his own financial gain. He told me I had to stay there after a traffic/alcohol violation (NOT court ordered) and pay him $125 per week when I only had to take a class. The classes there are a joke! Don't know how they would help anyone. PLEASE be aware of this place do NOT go here what so ever!! If you have been cheated like I have please call and make a complain so they can do something about it. Call the Better Business Bureau, the County, post your reviews etc. He needs to be stopped!! more

I was a recent resident at safe harbors, it is a horrable place. I did what they asked & obyed the rules and lenord kicked me out on the street with no where to go. It is a scam & the more turn over he has the more money he makes, so he treatens, scares and will find any reason to kick you out. They let people get away with using there and have no kind of program ! STAY FAR AWAY ! Please help warn the comunatie. !! I am going to contact probation office, better busniss, health department, I am also going to post on alot of social websites and local places. let me know if anyone gets results. more

I am a concerned mom who's son was also released to Safe Harbors in Reno. After reading these posts of the same experiences I am currently experiencing with Leonard and that house. If anyone is willing, please let me know what you have done to try to handle this situation you experienced, who you have contacted, what results you got, etc. Any help you can offer is much appreciated!!! more

This man Leonard and his staff are more like CON-ARTIST and not a treatment center. I have witnessed him opening the food pantry to his family to take food, while the clients there eat food that is stail, moldy, or 3 months past the expiration date. (NOT EVEN THE DOG THAT LIVES THERE WILL EAT IT). Leonard and Ryan claims their house managers have been clean for over 10yrs and that's a lie, claim there is no fraternizing with the the clients. I've witness Leonard asking a women client of his program to flash him. He'll show up with his motorcycle and ask the same women if she would like ride on the back of his bike topless. (what a sick Perv). I agree with rambler4ever this place wants to control your every move, and punish you when you do the right thing, and throw you out on the street if you dont have the rent money to give them. STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE DONT REFER ANYONE TO THEM THEY ARE MONEY HUNGRY THEIVES. more

Recent clients just got together and blew the whistle on S.H. The court dropped him. Parole &Probation is soon to follow The fire marshall is also involved the health dept also is watching closely he thinks his way of controlling people is just. dictating instead of directing finally caught up to him. soon when we are done with S.H. he will be renting to the homeless off the street Pat if you read this get out while you can. bad juju there. old lenny boy may be 10 or 12 years clean but he is still a cro-k and con. his own mouth did this to him. Pros: people who are at the mercy do have a say Cons: cant get rich on poeples mis fortunes. more

Hopefully Leonard will be going to jail soon. He consistently bends the rules for his own financial gain. His specialty is over charging elderly people at his landscaping co. which he has since sold. If you want to get clean and sober do not choose this place. I am concerned about lack of accommodation this house provides to its clients (CT). CT are only allowed to attend outside 12 step mtgs based on their ability to pay rent even if they R only a week and a ? behind, otherwise they R placed on restriction and not allowed leave to attend mtgs which their lives depend on to stay clean until they are a week ahead. Its basically a prison, and as far and the $$ goes a positive cash flow for Leonard Cons: too many to list more

I was told that $450 had to be sent to safe Harbor upfront prior to my son's possible release into a Rehab facility. Leonard explained that the money would be refunded if the release was denied and my son's behavior was not the reason for denial. My son was denied release but not because of any behavioral problems. This is information that I was given by my son's case worker at the correctional facility. I informed Leonard that my son was denied release and ask when he would be sending the refund. He said he would have to investigate it first and let me know. Many excuses later, I still have not received a refund and was told by Leonard that I would have to take legal action to get it. Don't allow him to take your money for doing absolutely nothing. more
