Safari Moving & Storage

I just had my stuff moved by these people and I feel...violated. They quoted us $280 for the move, and the actual bill was $580. They wrapped everything we owned like 20 times in packing tape, and then charged us $70 for the tape. This is NOT an exxageration - they charge $7 for each roll of tape they use, and they charged us for using 10 of them on our 1 bedroom apartment. They will take *everything* apart, wrap it in bubble wrap, tape it, and then charge you for the extra time it took to take the thing apart, rebuild it, and charge you for the packing materials. If there's anything worse than knowing that you're being ripped off, it's watching the heist take place verrrrrry slooooooowly over 4 hours and feeling helpless to do anything about it. Oh...and did I mention that they were 3 hours late and didn't confirm the appointment? I simply got a call an hour and a half after they were scheduled to come letting me know that they would be there in 1.5 hours. These people are simply crooks, straight up. Don't make the mistake I did and invite them into your house/apartment. There are lots of other honest, professional movers out there. more

I was hooked up with this company as a part of my relocation package. I was pleased that the movers came on-time with the delivery as the movers who had picked up from the original location were very late. All of the items were accounted for upon delivery. The movers were very quick to move things inside the apartment but they should have been more careful. In the process of moving objects in they scratched one of the walls and scratched the poly finish on my bedset. I felt they could have done a better job with the packing of materials while inside the truck. Though I didnt seek compensation through the company as it was done by the management company who oversaw the relocation process, I cannot detail how things were handled but I was given monetary compensation. I think it is a reliable service but you must instruct them or package your items with a lot of care and sufficient padding. more

Two men arrived from Safari on the day we had an appointment. They worked well together and most heavy things were loaded up onto the moving van with some time and patience, but without much incident. The only mishap occurred with the large ivory key piano that got a few scratches from the truck, even thought we had wrapped it in a couple layers. Things might've moved along faster if they had sent over one more mover (because we had tons of stuff). It took the whole day. more
