While there are times when servers may not be on top of their game, I have never had a bad meal at the Saber Room. Truly 5 star quality food. We gave this place a shot about a year prior to our last visit and we waited and waited and waited for our food, but because the food was good, we gave it another shot. This last time they gave my husband the wrong order and then took a half hour to make him what he originally requested. We finally said we couldn't wait any longer and walked out before the second meal made it to the table. The server told us that he wouldn't "charge us for the steak." Well, no duh! I thought they should have done more for us than what they did, which was nothing. They had no excuse because we were one of only three people in the restaurant. I attended college in Wilkes Barre and was taken there when I chose the school. I have since gone there every year even though I live in Philadelphia. Without exception, it is finest place I have ever eaten. The food is wonderful. The service is very particular. To beat it all the prices are fair. The gentleman who owns the place takes very special care that you enjoy yourself. I will go back every year at least once and try to make it more than once a year. Bravo. The Saber Room could very well be, as one reviewer said, "a diamond in the rough." However, my boyfriend and I simply couldn't find this "gem." Which makes all the more hilarious that one reviewer cited it's "location" as a con. (Laughing uncontrollably right now.) We were visiting from New York City and had reservations for Valentine's Day. We were told the restaurant was "around the corner" from our hotel, but alas, it wasn't. And every time we asked one of the locals where it was located, we were met with perplexed stairs and the dubious..."hmmmmm, yeah, the Saaayyyberrrr Room." Everything was out of this world. I consider myself well traveled and have enjoyed many fine dining experiences but none such as this. My first Visit to the Saber Room was last week and to sum it up in one word it was perfect. I've eaten all around the world and have never had an entree so classically prepared. Everything was done right, by the book. The service was exquisite and the ambience of the room was unbeatable. The prices of the prime meats were well, underpriced. As soon as you walk in you know your in for something special. This place is literally a diamond in the rough. There was not a decent amount of choices on the menu. And everything was severly overpriced. When our dishes arrived, the plates were filled with junk we didn't order...I suppose chef's discretion for presentation, but it was not edible and not aesthetically pleasing.
