Info on closing and/or new location 5/21/2007

This was quite possibly the best restaurant in the North End for ""classic"" Italian. Was it really as simple as the lease running out? I can't believe it would close down for such a reason. I assumed Lulu or her husband? had died. If anyone knows more info about why it closed and if it will re-open here or at another location, please post in here. I miss this place so badly. more

great food, service 4/19/2007

Every time we came to Boston from Maine we ate there. Close to the train...great food and Lulu. Now it's closed..what shall we do? Lulu..where are you??? more

When Lulu calls, we'll be waiting outside in 30 mins 3/11/2007

My friends and I have gone to Sabatino's for the best Italian food in Boston at least twice a month for almost 2 years. The salad is excellent: can't find a mix of that dressing, salami, and cheese anywhere else--always a crowd pleaser. The tortellini alfredo is exquisite melt-in-your-mouth heaven, with bite-sized tortellinis of a perfect consistency in delicious cream sauce. I also recommend the homemade fusilli with meatballs, which combines the yummy, chewy, almost buttery flavor of the pasta with their great meatballs and red sauce. Great atmosphere, student-budget friendly prices, noteworthy service that makes us feel so welcome every Friday night. Pros: Great service, no wait, excellent prices, short T ride to North Station Cons: Temporarily closed! more

Family Style, My favorite in North End 9/25/2006

I've been working in the North End for about 10 years now and I love going to Sabatino's because I feel like part of the family. It's not just me though, because just about everyone seems to be treated this way. Excellent pasta. Try the homemade Fusilli. Love the meatballs too. more

Great Out-of-the-way Italian 11/13/2005

We arrived at lunch and were promptly seated by a very friendly staff person. While the lunch menu was very reasonable, and tempting, we asked for and ordered from the dinner menu as it had more choices. The food was delicious and we continued eating well after we were full. The restaurant seems to be away from the ""tourista"" area of the north end, and the building is unremarkable. Being from the south I was wanting some fresh-brewed iced tea, but apparently not every restaurant in Boston serves it. Nevertheless, Sabatino' is definitely worth the time and effort to find. Pros: Friendly staff, Homestyle cooking, Clean more

Everyone love LuLu! 10/8/2004

Wonderful little hidden gems in the North End near Fleet center, friendly atmosphere and family style cooking, a nice warm and cozy place to have dinner with family and friends. Fresh home made Fusilli, gotta try all the seafood dishes, especially the meatballs practically vanished off your plate (watch out the person sit next to you), veal and many other family style dishes, no high priced fancy cooking in Sabatino. Hello, is Lulu working tonight? Tell her we are coming in for dinner, save us a table, are you listening!, Dont worry about it! And you know it! The fun begins as you walk in and warmly greeted by your friend, Lulu. Sandro! We missed you! Good Luck! Pros: Good food, friendly, good value more

Gotta eat here!! 8/29/2004

Awesome food, great service!! We got there around 5pm on a Sunday, only two other tables taken. By the time we left about 1.5 hrs later, the place was full and others waiting. It is truly worth the wait. more

North End Gem 4/26/2004

This resturant has wonderful food at reasonable prices. The dishes are authentic italian and for the price are some of the best in the city. Great service...you will not leave hungry....The lunch specials are 6 dollars and are spectacular. more

Modest quality 5/16/2003

The food in this modest equipped restaurant was above expectation. The service was good and the personel very friendly. Boston, get rid of your constructions and this will be a nice place. Pros: Inexpensive, Friendly environment, Good food Cons: Ugly neighbourhood more

No flash, just good food 2/26/2003

I found this restaurant while in business in Boston. I travel a lot and try to find smaller local eateries. Sabatino's is good food, plain and simple. No fancy decor, no tuxedoed waitstaff, the ambiance is nil. The food however is good with generous portions. the staff is friendly and willing to talk about the city, politics etc... It is a place that if I were in Boston on a regular basis, I would become a regular at. Pros: food, staff, Price Cons: Parking (almost none), location hard 2 find, close to Fleet ctr more

10+++ 2/1/2003

After 20 years of dining in the North End when in Boston (from the Cape), it's extremely difficult to go elsewhere !!! Not the fanciest, just warm, cozy & friendly with awesome food... It's not easy to find a restaurant where, once finished, you honestly feel you ""GOT YOUR $$$ WORTH""!!!! SABATINO'S IS THE EXCEPTION IN BOSTON....... Pros: FOOD, SERVICE, PRICE Cons: NOT on CAPE, NOT on CAPE, NOT on CAPE more

Rare Value 6/12/2002

The North End has progressively become filled with places that stress flash and image over quality food. That flash usually comes with ridiculously high prices for the quality delivered. Sabatino's is a clear departure from this trend. The place is family run and offers excellent (be it simple) traditional Italian food with the warmest service in the North End. It is also priced extremely reasonably - likely one of the best deals in the area. The room itself is clean and warm but it's certainly not anything special. The people and food make it special. Pros: value, food, service more
