Ever wonder what happens to the old beautiful fixtures, woodworking, lighting, sculptures and the like when old houses or restaurants are torn down and new structures are put up? Much of these items end up at Stamford Housewrecking. They are filled with old stained glass windows, staircases, heavy doors and gates, fireplace mantles, furniture, doorknobs, old hardware, moldings, sculptures, fountains and more. While items used to be cheaper prior to the shop being featured on Martha Stewarts show a few years ago, you simply can’t find some of the amazing workmanship that went into these kinds of hand crafted items, so it is still a bargain. Admission is free, there is a snack truck outside and soda vending machines. Absolutely fantastic.
