impressive, over the top, rare to find 9/15/2014

Joe at S & S Transmission goes above and beyond in making sure that he does a great job. He goes overboard in the best way possible, and I am very happy with the work he has done. He worked on my 1965 Mustang, walked me through every single step of the process and made sure that I was happy with what he was doing. He saved all of the parts from the transmission that he had taken out and went into detail about what he had prepared. He also took me on a test drive to show me what he had done. I've worked with cars for a long time, and it's very hard to find someone with such honesty. I would and already recommend S&S Transmission all the time. Anytime I go to car shows I carry their business cards with me and make sure to note that Joe is the guy to go to. S & S does is very impressive and I will continue to go to them for years to come. more

I went to S & S Transmission about a month and a half ago after a series of problems I ran into while trying to work with a competing transmission service. My experience with Joe at S & S Transmission was awesome! Joe helped me with a transmission rebuild on 2004 Chevy Silverado 1500. His job was excellent and I'd recommend his service to anyone. I actually just towed a car to Florida, from Connecticut, with my truck, and had no problems at all! How would I describe Joe? Let's see, he explained everything, he was friendly, knowledgeable, very meticulous, and more than anything, honest. He actually saved all the parts after the job was done, including the cannisters of transmission fluid, so I could know exactly what he did during the service. He explained all the pieces that were broken. He even put things under my truck that had been installed incorrectly from other services into the correct place. He has competitive prices, and to top that, he offers a two year, 24,000 mile warranty. I have already recommended him! more

After using S & S I now know, no other transmission shop can compare. I have had both of my vehicals serviced there and if I ever need a new transmission Joe will be the one I call. Oh I almost forgot to mention Joe does all the work himself and seems very meticulous just look at his shop you will see what I meen. more

It has been a month since I took my 04 Avalanche to S&S Transmission and it runs great. It was by luck that I went there. I had called all the transmission shops that were closer to me but non could get me in for diagnostics for a couple of days. Joe asked me to bring it to him at 1 pm that day. He hook up to the computer and took it for a test drive. When he returned him gave me the est. I told him I needed to decide and would let him know later. I asked much I owed and he said nothing that it is part of the deal. All the places I called what $85 to $90 for diagnostics. That made my decision easy. I brought the truck to him on Wed morning and Friday afternoon I picked it up. His work was meticulous and my truck could not be better. I would tell everyone with transmission trouble to go to S&S Transmission. Joe is honest to a fault. He is very good at what he does and he runs the cleanest shop I have ever seen. Go to Joe. You won't be sorry. more

I decided it was time to have the transmission on my restored 1965 Mustang rebuilt. I consulted with my son in law who is a Master Mechanic and does most of the heavy lifting with all of our vehicles, and he strongly suggested that we find a good transmission shop to do the rebuild. I called all of the shops in the area and some seemed to be confused when I asked for a rebuild on a Ford c-4 Dual Select C-4 transmission. On the other hand when I contacted Joe Reynolds at S and S Transmission he knew exactly what this old tranny was and bean to describe the dual select option. I went to the shop and Joe took the time to make me feel comfortable with his knowledge and expertise with my classic car. He took time to let me look at his shop which is immaculate. While doing the job Joe called me to keep me informed on the progress. He took care of the car when it was in the shop as I would. After the job was complete Joe went through all of the replaced parts, and explained what was replaced and why. He also took me for a test drive on completion. I am completely satisfied with the work done on my Mustang. It drives like a new car. I would trust S and S with any type of auto work; Joe is almost too honest to be in the business.\r \r Vintage/Classic car community please take note…… I would not have any one else work on my transmission other than Joe Reynolds of S and S Transmission.\r more

Joe was one of the best auto service providers I have dealt with over the years. He was very proffessional and explained all the services and warranty information. He replaced the transmission in my much needed handicap van and it is just like new! His work area is neat and clean which is nice to see these days. Automotive transmission fluid drain, new filter, gasket and refill. Joe was most thorough in cleaning all parts before reinstalling them. Mr.Reynolds proceeded to add fluid in my Porsche Boxster S. Would return again, a five star for sure. more

I took my ’04 Chevy Silverado Z71 in for a transmission diagnosis and rebuild. The Truck had lost 4th Gear in Maryland. I drove back to Groton. S and S checked the electrical first. Upon disassemble they found a broken band. S and S made sure the rebuild was required before selling me. 2 months later, truck drives like new and the gas mileage has improved. Shifts solid when towing. more
