S F Puppy Prep

I've taken puppy k/jr. high and also a canine freestyle seminar at SF Puppy Prep. My puppy k/jr. high teacher, Marissa, was amazing. Without her, I think my corgi pup, Kipper, would be a wild, uncontrollable pup. She taught me how to channel all that energy into something useful. For example, she taught us that mental stimulation was just as tiring as physical stimulation and gave us tips on how to trigger both stimuli. She also taught Kipper impulse control/life rewards (waiting at the door= going for a walk). I loved that it wasn't about teaching tricks, but about having a connection and understanding your dog. Since graduation, I've been kind of sad because I know Kipper won't be able to see her teacher as much anymore. Another thing I liked about SF Puppy Prep is that I made a lot of friends there. I've already set up some play dates outside of Puppy Prep with some other pups from my previous classes. Also, in the Canine Freestyle seminar, my instructor, Ruthanna, invited us to be part of a demo and I met and worked with a lot of cool trainers there. I wholeheartedly recommend this place to anyone. They have everything for your pup, from classes, daycare, dog walking services, to puppy socials. This place will set a good foundation for your pup. Kipper's already blossoming into a well behaved dog and I owe it all to SF Puppy Prep! I will be back for the CGC class and also the Canine Freestyle Class. When I adopted my 4month old rescue pup, I was at a loss on how to deal with all of the puppy issues as well as all of the rescue dog issues. I found SF Puppy Prep and they have become my touchstone for sanity in the raising of my little guy (who is now almost 2). Puppy Prep puppy school taught my puppy and I all of the puppy basics. My dog is VERY nervous and shy, and the teachers adapted their techniques to work with my shy guy and make it safe for him. We then went to puppy junior high and continued to work on recall, stay, heal and leave it. Both classes were fun, interesting and provided skill training that we use every day. I also enrolled my dog in puppy day care. What a relief that was - they came and picked up my pup and played with him all day. It provided him socialization and training that it is hard to give your dog when you are at walk. I had a lot of concern about my dog and his shyness, Aishe and Steph (and the other staff) were always available for consultation and pep talks. Without their gentle and informed guidance, I may have decided that I could not handle the urban raising of this shy guy. They helped me find a dog-walker (play-it-again-sam) that was going to be able to handle my dogs shy behavior, and have continued to help me when new behavior issues have come up. SF PUPPY PREP rocks! I am a struggling single mom who does not have a lot of money to spare, but I decided that my dog will be with me for years and it was worth an up-front investment to get us started on the right foot. This is the best place! I took my puppy here for a training class and would do it again in a heart beat. The owners are highly informed in training dogs, love everyones puppy, and are VERY approachable. It was the best $200 I have spent on my dog yet! I have recommended it to a handful of people with new puppies. They even answered questions for me months later. Top quality!! You guys are perfect! Pros: Everything about the service, the trainers, the results was top notch. Cons: The neighborhood is a little seedy and parking is a little harder to find, but not impossible. more
