I agree with the previous reviewer of The Ryder Films. I absolutely love it when I can go watch a movie in the back room at Bear's Place, eat good pizza or strombolis, drink beer, and enjoy a really great movie ... without having to pay The Man (the big theater corporation who's taken over all the regular theaters in town).
I mean, who can argue with this? It's great!
I also like that Peter Lopilato, the Alpha and Omega as (his) Ryder magazine calls him, is also open to suggestion. If I read about a foreign film or somewhat obscure film and think it sounds interesting to a Bloomington audience, I'll pop him an e-mail with a link to the review, and he appreciates the input. Sometimes he's brought movies to town that I've suggested, which I think is fabulous -- the big corporate box theater isn't going to do that, right?
So, yeah. The Ryder. Another great thing about living in Bloomington. I hope someday Peter figures out how to get a permanent theater of his own to run, because that would be cool, too, I'm sure.
