Russian Roulette

probably the biggest russian restaurant in the city, the decor is tacky and gaudy, as in all russian restaurants here in l.a. there are several fixed menus to choose from. the least expensive of which is usually $55/ person. if you want more seafood and variety the price goes up to around $100/person. there are a lot of cold and hot appetizers that come with that, most of which are pretty unappetizing. some of the seafood appetizers are decent like the craw-fish salad or the tuna tartare. the entrees usually consist of chicken, pork or beef kebobs, salmon, and several chicken dishes authentically prapared. desssert is usually brought on your own and so is alcohol. the music's terrible, but when everyone gets drunk enough they usually won't mind dancing to it, that is, unless they're too busy smoking outside or trying to impress people with their jewelry. what fun!!! I can't believe this restaurant has any customers at all. The ""food,"" and I use the term with great hesistation, was absolutely disgusting. They just piled mounds of unappetizing -looking food on top of each other, with no thought as to presentation. It's a prix-fixe menu, with your only choice the entree. You get some cold vegetables, some digustingly salty pickled fish, many other unrecognizable dishes, and for my entree, a dry chicken kabab with french fries. I don't know, maybe all of the russians there were happy they weren't waiting in line for a potato like during the Cold War. All of this for the remarkably reasonable price of $55 per person. Oh, and you have to bring your own alcohol. You do get a show, but it's not worth suffering through the food. If you ever get invited, invent an excuse not to go.
