Russell Robinson violated the federal Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) when he obtained a copy of the oppositions credit report without written permission, consent or court order. The attorney illegally used a non-client's credit history to judgement proof his client from allegations of concealed assets, concealed businesses and concealed debt. The FCRA affirmed the use of a non-client's credit report was for illegitimate purposes under the Act. Mr. Robinson failed to obtain written permission or court order, violating the rights of the consumer. The State Bar's Audit & Review Unit has been notified concerning this matter.
