Knowledgable! 8/6/2015

No one knows their shoes better! I've been coming here to get my shoes since high school. In all the time I've been coming here, nothing has changed about the store. Including the expertise! \r You'll never second guess the shoes you get here. They can tell by your old running shoes what will work best. You end up saving time because you don't have to try on every shoe in the store. \r \r They deserve all 5 stars! more

The Best running store in Connecticut 5/20/2009

I have been buying running shoes at the Run In for decades, beginning in the 70's when they were in their original location up the street. As others have mentioned if you want clean and tidy ..go to the mall. If you want knowledge and expertise you're in the right place. John Vitale is as knowledgeable about running shoes and accessories as he was an accomplished runner,...and his ability is legendary. You'll find the right shoe for your needs and price range and you'll get to test them out before you leave with your purchase. My wife and I have been customers for a long time and will continue to be for as long as we're runners. more

I got the right running shoes here. 2/28/2009

The owner of Run-In always (and I have bought shoes here a few times) finds a running shoe that is right for me. Some reviews say the guys who work there have no personality. I disagree. Listen closely to hear the dry-wit. Overall, I have been 100% satisfied on points of highly knowledgeable staff, consistently good assistance in finding the right shoe, and the ambiance of the place. more

There isn't a monopoly on running shoe knowledge 11/10/2008

I bought a couple of pairs of shoes at the run-in, on the advice of co-workers, about 18 months ago. Yes, the store wasn't clean and neat and the service was by no means warm or friendly- however, I walked out of the store with a couple of pairs of running shoes that worked out well. I figured it was better than going to Dick's.Last week I went to get another pair, and when I arrived at the store there was a Post-it note on the door saying they were closed until 11/7 (it was 11/5). I had been to there web site to check their hours before I left my house. There was no mention on the web site that they were going to be closed. I drove 20 minutes on my lunch hour to get there. I was not happy.I made a couple of calls and someone recomended I go to Fleet Feet in West Hartford. Not only were they knowledgeable, they were courteous and even smiled (didn't get one of those at the Run-in). I tried on 3 pairs of shoes, ran on all of them outside, never felt rushed and walked out with a pair of more

you gotta know who you are dealing with! 9/29/2008

First of all the guy who wrote the review blasting this shop is a moron. You need to know what you are dealing with before you write a crappy review. If you are a real runner you know they don't have any personality, and imagine if I went through your things and made more of a mess then it already was. Wake up, and deal with it buddy. It is a great shop and very good runners. more

Connecticut's Premier Runnin Store 5/22/2008

Between John Vitale (2:16 marathon, led Boston for 14 mi, placed 4th, Olympic Trials Marathon, 30k U.S. record-holder for many years) and Ray Crothers (only person to win Manchester Road Race in three divisions, inductee into CCSU Track and Field Hall of Fame) the co-owners of Connecticut's premier running store have over 50,000 miles on their legs and will dispense training advice, information on overuse or chronic injuries and state-of-the-art knowledge of all running products, no serious distance runner in Connecticut should shop for running shoes elsewhere: these guys will order the right shoes for you rather than try to sell you what is in stock.\r \r Visit once and you'll never again consider the illusion of a bargain at an outlet store like Bob's. more

Rude and slow customer service and store is a mess! 9/15/2005

I went to buy some sneakers on way home, they close pretty early but I was there an hour before close. I walked in to find a dishelved mess of a store that looked like someones garage not a retail store. Then the employee who was there never greeted me so I began trying to sift through to find what I wanted, and then was very rudely spoken to and told not to look through the boxes. Isnt this a store??hello!! I really think they should close down for a week clean up the mess of a store (literally there was dust on the boxes!) and retrain rude employees. I would never shop here. more
