A hidden treasure 7/23/2011

I love Rumpelstiltskin, especially when I need something NOW, or when I need to see and feel something before buying. This is also the only place anywhere close to me that carries hard-to-find things like size 00 knitting needles or weaving yarns. Other craft stores only carry what's "popular," Rumpelstiltskin carries what is *excellent.* The store is small and crammed with an amazing amount of yarn: the staff have always been friendly and helpful. I am thrilled that they are still in business as I've been shopping here for at least 20 years. more

Very disgusted! 3/24/2011

Visited this shop as an out-of-town guest. Was disgusted - bought some yarn that needed wound into a ball and was told they don't do that. Never knew a yarn store that didn't wind skeins into balls! I have been a fiber artist for 30 years - was getting on a plane and wanted to begin my new project. Well, I couldn't begin the project. I was the ONLY customer in the store, so time was not a factor.\r I have worked at yarn stores and we NEVER let a customer out the door without winding their yarn. Shame on you! more

Ever since I started going to this place they have always had what I needed. The staff are very helpful and know about all that you need. I would always recommend this place. more

I've been going to this store since I first started knitting around 12 years ago. The yarn selection is good, and it is one of the last remaining yarn stores that is easy to access. The people who work there are very friendly and helpful. You can return yarn for store credit if you end up not using it for a project and they can also order yarn for you. A lovely little shop. more

Well known among serious knitters in the area. Difficult to find for a new customer. Excellent variety of yarns and accessories. Very knowledgeable staff and the more you look, the more you see. more

yarns from everywhere 7/8/2006

my mom and i shop here for yarn. this is a cute little store set in an old building which houses many specialty stores. rumpelstilskin has every kind of yarn imaginable. i believe the thing that sets designer scarves and sweaters from normal ones are the yarn - and here you can find it all. the prices are a little bit more than you would expect to pay, but the quality is unbeatable. they have free patterns papered around the store and the clerks are wonderful they definitely knit so they are very helpful with information. PROS: selection CONS: price more
