My girlfriend and I went in for dinner. The server was fine. The food was just ok, but the portions are fairly large. My girlfriend had ordered a house glass of wine, and pointed to it in the menu specifying the price to be $3.95 for the glass. I ordered a soda. we were charged $4.95 for the wine, and I was charged $1.50 for each refill of my soda (i think it was 4).i have been to many restaurants, only top class restuarants would charge for refilling your soda, and this place is basically a bar with a couple tables in it, so i didnt expect to be charged for each one (maybe the server could have said something when i kept sucking them down). We questioned the server politely, The manager came out with two wine glasses and very sarcastically started talking down to...THE WRONG TABLE. we could hear her accross the room insulting the wrong guests. Then she finally came to our table after realizing her mistake. She again started insulting us and talking to us rudely like we were 5 years old or had some kind of learning disability. She said ""do you really expect me to take off one dollar?"" We replied yes, if there was a mistake why would they not take care of it? She refused and implied that we must be used to applebees and that ruffstone was not a low class joint like that and must be inexperience with fine dining. I cannot explain to you the sarcastic tone and how rude Lou-anne was to us. I was so infuriated I was at a loss for words. I was not concered over the small price difference but more the level of service and that fact that she should have fixed the simple mistake. We are from Newport, (I worked as a server for years there) and used to dining out many nice places, and ruffstone is NOT one of them. I delivered a certain level of service when in the field and I expect the same, or at least expect to be respected, which i wasnt. Avoid this place at all costs. We paid our bill, tipped well, and left. Lou-anne deserves to be fired, she is ruining that business
