Rudy's Italian Seafood Rstrnt

Rudy's is like a cheers type of place with great food. You can sit at the bar & eat & drink & feel very comfortable. People talk with each other like a big family. Love the place! more

To the reviewer that suggests I need glasses: First,I said it was okay. I did not condemn Rudy's to the bowels of the restaurant netherworld. I will change my review to average, because in my opinion, it is simply not higher than that. Secondly,please find a dictionary to look up the word quaint. Have you seen the dining room? (not the bar..the dining room.) An area smaller than my living room with white monochromatic-painted walls is not quaint. Thirdly, to judge a restaurant simply by one dish alone (I believe you raved about the calamari) does not make a restaurant great. A well-rounded, well-prepared menu, along with great ambiance and service, is what makes a great restaurant. If it is seafood you crave, then Rudy's is your place. You have every right to disagree with me, just not in such a rude manner. Glad you like Rudy's: I am sure they savor your business. more

I don't even eat fried calamari, but have tried some here and it is very good. I love the fried shrimp too! My husband always gets the mussels in marinara which he loves and one of the reasons we go there. Tommy cooks most nights and he is the one to eat from in my opinion. He makes all kinds of good eats. The ambience is casual and plays oldies music. There are three t.v.'s that always have the games on which is a plus while hanging with friends drinking a few and watching the games with a few apps. Overall the place has pretty good food. more

I believe the reviewer has missed her mark. Rudy's atmosphere is both quaint and cozy and does have windows in both the bar area as well as the restaurant area. I question her ability to judge the meal if she can't even see the windows. Anyway, this well established restaurant has been a cornerstone in Cliffside Park and provides the best calamari this side of Italy. I suggest the reviewer purchase a pair of eyeglasses and perhaps acquire a sense of taste! Bijou more

For Starters, Rudy's is okay.The food I have had was okay. There is a bar area where many eat everything from Bar Pies to Appetizers to Seafood...Rudy's is known in the area for seafood. The downside? It has a restaurant dining area also, that I believe is smaller than my living room, and I do not recall any windows in that room. So if you are claustrophobic, eat in the bar area or order takeout. Trust me on this (unless they expanded it!)Also, for some reason, I always feel this place is frequented by sailors and fishermen..or at least the bar anyway. It has that type of feel (at lleast at the bar area.) The meals? Fair. The Fra Diavalo pasta is plenty but spicy,and that was just the medium spiced sauce. Appetizers are good. You can get your share or mussels, clams, and such. The Italian food is okay to good and you may be suprised at some of the entrees. Overall, it is not something to jump up and down about. Your best bet of when to go? If you are hanging out with your buddies, Hang out at the bar and enjoy the food, bar pies and all. (The bar pies actually are tasty.) Or you can chug a few brewskies over a bowl of mussels. more
