The Tampa's Roy's is like the ones that I have been to in other cities: a very nice place with Roy's unique, good, original dishes and lots of pretty people/expensive cars around. The Roy's Canoe Appetizer for Two is a good way to taste 5 different and interesting appetizers without getting too full before the main course. But, at $ 26.00, it is ridiculously over-priced. I had one of their classic main dishes; the macadamia crusted mahi mahi and my wife had the beef short ribs. The mahi mahi is not really ""crusted"" with macadamia. It's more like ""dusted"", which is a plus in my book. This is a truly unique dish that is tasty, satisfying and not too bad on the waistline. The beef short ribs are rich and flavorful but, given their price and the pretensions of the Roy's chain, taste too much like any old potroast with mashed potatoes . Serving sizes, unlike in many restaurants, are just perfect. Their Hawaiian Martini is an excellent cocktail with just a bit of sweetness and a hint of coconut. I'm not normally a fan of either sweet or coconut in cocktails, but I had two of these. Try one! Roy's is a good place to go once a year or so for something different than the regular, ""nice"" restaurant. For the price, there are other places in Tampa where I would go more often, such as Mise en Place or Mangroves.
Pros: Original dishes and cocktails
Cons: Price
