The Rotunda theater is a small cinema with two screens. You won't find a huge crowd at the movies here, as most of the films are either dramas or independent releases. The crowd is mainly locals and Johns Hopkins students, which makes for a quiet and peaceful viewing. You won't get the latest and greatest in sound or seating, but it's a more than comfortable enough alternative to the megaplex. more

Classy old-school movie theater 2/2/2006

The Rotunda Cinematheque is a tiny theater located in the Rotunda shopping plaza--it only has two screens, but they tend to show a really good selection of movies. Their seats are very comfortable, and they are reasonably priced compared to some of the other theaters around--reduced prices on weeknights as well! They tend to be less crowded than some of the other theaters too. more

Small Theater with a Big Heart 8/17/2005

The Rotunda is a nice little theater, owned by the same people who run the more famous Senator theater on York Rd. Featuring two screens, the Rotunda shows a strange mix of movies, mostly larger-budget feature films but occasionally mixing in an independent or little-known film here and there. The prices are reasonable, the seats are comfortable, and I've never had a bad experience there. more

If you like your theatres empty... 8/15/2005

This is a very small theatre located near the Johns Hopkins University campus. I like it a lot because it is not only located in the Rotunda Mall but also because it is not overcrowded. They only show 2 movies at a time, and these are usually independent movies. So, if you want to watch your movie without a screaming child in the background, I would totally recommend this theatre. The screens are pretty big and they also play nationwide pictures once in a while. Also, if you want, you can go to the supermarket right afterwards because there is a Giant right in the mall! more
