Best Indian Food I've had 11/30/2007

\r Whenever I go into this restaurant, I feel like I've entered another world. It's relaxing and slow, atypical of Queen Anne. The food is delicious, even though sometimes it takes awhile to get your order. My favorites are Tandoori chicken and the lamb dishes. I also get an order of the Garlic Naan. The food is very flavorable, and the wait staff is pleasant. Pros: Food, ambiance more

Hands down- best Indian food 5/10/2007

I love Indian food- it is my favorite type of cuisine. Ive been on a mission to find a great Indian restaurant in Seattle for quite some time now. Going by folks recommendations I was told time and time again to try out the ""Taste of India"" in the Udistrict. I went and was sorely dissappointed. I almost gave up, settling on the idea that Seattle was not a city that could do Indian cuisine well. Alas, I came upon ""Roti"" in Queen Anne- incredible! The tandoori chicken is the best Ive had in my lifetime. Perfectly moist and flavorful also generous in portion. Everything Ive tried...from lamb to salmon have trumped my expectations. This is a place I look forward to reviewing more thuroughly for my site ( Cheriepicked). Pros: Generous portions, Ambiance Cons: Parking more

Best Indian Food in Seattle 11/11/2006

This is hands down the best indian food in Seattle. Every single thing we've tried here - and we've tried a lot - has been absolutely delicious & full of flavor. Also, if you ask them to make your food spicy they will actually do it. \r \r We've always experienced excellent service - the hostess and waitresses are very friendly and polite. The restaurant is always full of neighborhood patrons which is a testament to how great it is. We love Roti! more

Poor Indian cuisine in a stuffy atmosphere with poor service 10/18/2006

My wife and I were looking forward to going to Roti because it looked like it had really good potential. Unfortunately it was very disappointing. The room was about 2/3 full but it was very warm and stuffy inside. With every sizzling platter they served, the room got even stuffier. My wife ordered wine, which they forgot to bring to the table. We noticed other people who had arrived after us were already drinking the drinks they'd ordered. When I asked the host about it he didn't apologize. What he said insinuated that we just hadn't waited long enough, but her wine showed up right after I asked about it. The onion naan we ordered was more soggy than fresh. I got a dish that was similar to lamb korma. The meat was very tough. It was also not very flavorful lamb. My wife got a shrimp dish in a white sauce that she didn't really care for. A couple times throughout the meal, our small table kept filling up with plates, glasses, a naan basket, a basket for the complimentary hard cracker thing they give, etc. and we were running out of room on the table for eating our entrees. The girl who was tasked with filling water glasses didn't really want to bother with it when we asked about it (yeah, we had to ask them to clear the table), so we were left to stack things up on top of each other. At the end of the meal we were asked 3 times by 2 people whether we wanted our food wrapped up to which we answered ""no"" every time because the food was so bad (and I left at least half of what I ordered because it was so tasteless). When the guy came with the check he held the check out for one of us to grab rather than clearing the table off and putting the check down on the table --even though we'd told him we didn't want to save anything on the table. Tonight I noticed that they charged my card a small sum more than I'd indicated on the receipt. Bad place. Stay away.\r \r P.S. What's with the ugly spray-painted ceiling? Pros: Location Cons: Bad food, rude service, stuffy atmosphere more

SOOOOOOOOOOOO Disapointed 10/14/2006

Ok the other people who reccommended this restaurant must not have ever had good indian food because this place was absolutely terrible. I am Indian by origin and know what good indian food tastes like and this is definatley not it. When we first walked in there was a woman sitting there with her feet up on a sofa and shoes off.... How unprofessional is that!!!!!!! And it only went downhill from there. We ordered Butter Chicken which had no spicyness or taste at all. It was extremely bland and tasteless!!!! I still have not found a good Indian restaurant in Seattle and continue to look after my experience here!!!!! more

If you've been disatisfied by Seattle Indian restuarants, go here! 8/25/2006

My girlfriend and I moved to Seattle from the East coast a bit over 3 years ago and since we've found Roti, it's been our favorite restaurant. \r Until then, I'd been roundly disappointed with Seattle Indian restaurants. Chutneys was overpriced and lacked delicately balanced flavors. \r \r India Express on Broadway used to be my favorite delivery joint, but since they changed owners, it just hasn't been the same. \r \r I tried Cedars in the U-dist upon some recommendations and had been dissapointed by the blandness. Others I'd tried were so far beyond bland or average that I don't even consider mentioning them.\r \r I agree with other reviewers here, the Chicken Tikka is amazing, but everything I've had at Roti has been so good, I have to force myself to try something new each time. Service is wonderful. It makes me hungry just thinking about it. Yum. Pros: Everything tastes AMAZING Cons: Tendency to overstuff myself. =) more

hair in food! bad service/attitude 8/17/2006

We had a very bad experience at Roti. We found a long hair in the curry, when we showed it to the owner, his response was as if no big deal - and said it can happen! We had to ask for replacement dish and we were charged for the one dish. Had this unfortunate incident happened at any other place, they would have apolgized promptly, provided new dish of their own and would not have charged for that item. Pros: ambience Cons: service/attitude more

Excellent food -- from a very picky eater 6/17/2006

I love everything abt food. There are very few indian restaurants which can make good indian food like Roti. Little high on grease but oh well!!!. I have tried Kanishka, Haveli, shamiana, Mayuri, Chutneys, Cedars, India Gate, Taj palace and this one just stands out. One of the best for North Indian food and the hostess is pretty hospitable. more

Delicious Food and Warm, Friendly Service! 9/16/2005

This was only my 2nd time eating Indian food in my life. The hostess made me feel immedietly welcome and at home. The waitress was equally kind, and the owner recognized my sister from previous visits and struck up a conversation with her like she was an old friend. I played it safe and got chicken tikka masala since previous reviewers judged it the best in town. It was absolutely delicious! The sauce is to die for. The garlic naan was good too with the sauces they bring out w/your pre-appetizer (a sort of cracker/flatbread i don't remember the name of it) or dipped in the tikka sauce. The portions were a perfect size, didn't have to worry about taking leftovers w/me for our night on the town. Overall, highly reccomended to everyone! Pros: delicious tikka, warm ambiance, perfect portions Cons: a little pricy more

Best Indian Buffet in Seattle 8/28/2005

The lunch buffet here is the best in town. They always have many yummy options to choose from - not just two or three, but 4 or more main dishes, endless tandoor chicken, fresh naan, two cold salads and dessert. I think they have the best chicken tikka masala in town. Have that with some fried onions, naan, and a drizzle of papaya sauce - and expect to need a nap by 2pm. The other bonus is that the staff is warm, friendly and genuinely nice to patrons. Pros: Plentiful buffet, best chicken tikka, nice staff Cons: get too full more

Great ambience, good food 8/22/2005

One of the nicer Indian restaurants in the Seattle area. Menu has a little more than the usual Indian suspects. I played it safe though and stuck with the known - the eggplant bharta was excellent...the thinly slivered ginger on top complemented the smoky flavor perfectly. Rotis were fresh and piping hot. The quality of the condiments (chutneys, raita) was good. The chef made a tarka daal especially for us. The mint kabab wasn't very minty and looked very green :) But small nit in an otherwise great meal. Pros: Ambience, Food, Music more

Tasty food, awesome mango lassi 6/2/2005

Roti is, after much hunting and searching, one of the few Indian places I'll go to in Seattle repeatedly. Their mango lassi is really good -- they seem to use fresh mangoes instead of the terrible canned mango lassi you'll get at pretty much every other place in town. Enough about that. They don't have this on the menu: the paneer chilli (they have only the chicken chilli available as a starter), but its an awesome dish, and the chef will specially prepare it for you! The rest of the food is also prepared fresh for you, and you can taste the flavor and freshness. Having said all that, I've definitely been to better Indian places in the U.S., but I guess I have to settle for 2nd best in seattle :( Pros: Food, Ambience, Mango Lassi more

Great Indian Food 5/25/2005

In my opinion this is one of the best Indian restaurants in the Seattle area. The food is tasty (and spicy), the portions are just right and the staff is friendly and efficient. The prices are just a bit high, but it is definitely worth it. Pros: Flavor, Spicy, Service more
