Dr. Afzal is very easy to get into while many other neuros in Rockford do not accept new patients. There is very good reason for this, unacceptible unprofessional behavior. Coming from the standpoint of a person who has lived with epilepsy all of their life and knows my problems with it, here is what to watch out for if you decide to risk your health seeing this joker;\r
He throws medications at everything, with the purpose to cover up the condition, not control it. Special intrest with RX vendors.\r
Un-nessessary testing, argumentative, pretends to listen but your words mean nothing to him, likes to tell you ""how you feel"" and not listen to how you actually feel, accuses you of missing medication doses but fails to base his facts on a baseline test (very bad bedside mannor), \r
Even worse, this joker REFUSES to communicate with other doctors and yourself unless he wants to schedule a money making appointment. Example, the company doctor wanted an opinion from him, and he told me to make an appointment. After said appointment, he said he would communicate the results after a blood test, but never did, not with me or him. Not so much as a ""hello"" until you scheduled another money making appointment with him, THEN he'd tell you the levels were not right, WHY THE WAIT??? Additionally, I found myself calling him at night on numerous times to refill medicine, because they wouldn't do so when notified a week earlier.\r
Additionally, they claim to not have records of mri's and ct scans he ordered, then want to CHARGE YOU to get your records to go to another doctor.\r
Coming from a person who knows my illness very well, Dr. Afzal refuses to listen to your life lessons and argue that he knows more than you do, as there are some things school cannot teach you when it comes to a complex illness you have lived with for 37 years. There is no willingness to learn from the patient what school could not teach him.\r
Bottom line, he's a money racket, who does not care about the wellness of the patient unless he's making money. And if you depend on meds in a timely fashion, don't ever expect it from him. Very incompatent and unprofessional, my pharmisist knows much more about epilepsy than he does. STAY AWAY!!! I wish I could give a zero star rating.
Pros: Easy to get appointment
Cons: Unknowledgeable and unprofessional
